Our coastal adventure begins this morning with pickups along the Interstate 5 corridor — Albany at approximately 6:00 AM, Salem at 6:30 AM, Woodburn at 7:00 AM, and Tualatin at 7:30 AM.

Portland Spirit Sightseeing Cruise

At 8:30 AM we board the Portland Spirit for a relaxed sightseeing cruise on the Willamette River, watching the city and its graceful bridges drift past from the open water.

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our exploration of Astoria with a warm welcome from a local historian who brings the area's rich seafaring past to life.

Visit Flavel House Museum

We then visit the beautifully preserved Flavel House Museum, a stately Queen Anne mansion that recalls the elegance of Astoria in its heyday.

Lunch

We share lunch together before continuing to the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

Columbia River Maritime Museum & Lightship Columbia

We continue to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, where the dramatic story of the treacherous Columbia River Bar comes alive and we step aboard the historic Lightship Columbia, our first lighthouse-themed encounter of the tour.

Ascend Astoria Column

Later we ascend to the Astoria Column, set high on a hilltop with sweeping views over the river, the bay, and the forested hills beyond; the climb to the top is yours to take or to admire from the ground.

Dinner

We return to the hotel to freshen up before gathering for dinner together this evening, sharing the discoveries of the day.

Following breakfast, we travel south along the shore to the artists' village of Cannon Beach, where the iconic Haystack Rock rises dramatically from the surf.

Scenic Railway Ride

We board a vintage scenic railway for a leisurely one-way ride through the coastal countryside, a gentle and nostalgic way to take in the passing scenery.

Visit Cape Meares Lighthouse

Afterward we visit the Cape Meares Lighthouse, perched on a rugged headland above the Pacific, before continuing south toward Lincoln City.

We continue to the Sea Lion Caves, home to a colony of wild Steller sea lions within one of the largest sea caves on earth.

After breakfast we load our luggage and depart at approximately 9:30 AM for the final lighthouse of our journey, the Umpqua River Lighthouse at Winchester Bay, arriving around 10:30 AM.
