Imagine Charter 7th Graders will be embarking on a 3-day tour of our State Capital in Tallahassee.

TALLAHASSEE TOUR
PROPOSED AGENDA

Sample Agenda

DAY 1 (WED-01/24)

5:00am Depart from your school.  Rest stops en route. 11:00am Arrive in Tallahassee at Cascades Park -Meet Guide. Lunch (students should plan to bring their own lunch this day).  Tour the Historic Old Capitol Building - restored back to its 1902 splendor where it once held all three branches of Government under one roof. Guided tour of the New Capitol Building, including stops at the House and Senate Galleries and ending on the 23rd floor observation deck. Be seated in the Florida Supreme Court.  Docents will explain the appellate court system and what types of cases make it to the highest court in the state of Florida.  Picture stop at the Governor’s Mansion. Dinner on Florida State University Campus at the Seminole Café.  Transfer to the Challenger Learning Center to see the 3-D IMAX movie “Asteroid Hunters”.  Hotel Check-in: Hampton Inn Tallahassee Central.

DAY 2 (THU-01/25)

Wake-up/Hotel Breakfast. Chick-Fil-A Box Lunches delivered to hotel. Transfer to the Tallahassee Museum of History & Natural Science.  The Tallahasee Museum features a turn of the century Florida cracker farm, where students will take a docent-led tour of the grounds, along with a self-guided tour through the nature trail & zoo area, featuring tons of animals native to Florida mixed in with exotic animals as well.  Boxed lunch. Transfer to Mission San Luis.  Guided Tour of Mission San Luis. This is an active archeological dig site where Apalachee Indians and Spaniards lived together.  The tour features a  re-created Spanish Mission Church and Home, and the Apalachee Chief’s House and Tribal Council House (which held thousands of people!) 4:30pm transfer to the Tallahassee Fun Station. Enjoy a pizza party dinner including a pre-loaded gamecard to get started in the arcade, along with go-cart, batting cages, and mini-golf.  Return to the hotel.

DAY 3 (FRI-01/26)

Wake-up/Breakfast/Hotel Check-out.  Box lunches delivered (Honey Baked). Transfer to Panacea, FL. Tour the Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory.  Students will be given a 2-hour guided tour conducted by marine biologists including the aquarium and touch tanks explaining the animals and their habitats.  They will then head down to the floating docks where students may observe first-hand the many different organisms that live in this fragile ecosystem.  Box lunch at nearby Woolley Park.  1:00pm Depart for home with rest stops en route. Return to your school by 7:00pm.
