About this trip

Once you reach Uhuru Peak at the top of Kilimanjaro  it is surreal. With your arms outstretched for a celebratory photo on the Roof of Africa,  you will feel a blend of exhaustion, exhilaration, and the realization that if you can do this, you can do anything!

Ladies who adventure, are you seeking a challenging event that combines a dream destination with a bucket-list, brag worthy experience? Join our women's team and touch the Roof of Africa June 29, 2024.

Spend 9 days traversing trails on mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our path is the lesser traveled Northern Circuit Trail.  The Northern Circuit is the longest and most gradual route to take. Therefore,  It has a high summit success rate because of its acclimatisation profile.

The Northern Circuit is a better option for those who do not have experience high altitude hiking, and for those who just want to enjoy the journey, while striving to reach the destination. The path is approximately 60 miles over 9 days. It ascends the more remote western slope, then travels north of the peak to approach it from the east. You descend the southeastern slope.

You will pass through four ecozones: tropical forest, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit. With this you will experience hot tropical weather to below freezing nights. Our camps are in scenic locations. Clear skies reveal billions of stars above us, and below us endless sea of white clouds blanketing the Serengeti below. Kibo Peak is always in view, and a daily reminder of our ultimate goal.

One team, one dream, Uhuru Peak 19, 341 ft!

Itinerary

Overview
Northern Circuit Route

There are 7 routes to the summit on Kilimanjaro. Lemosho is the second busiest, and the Northern Circuit is the less traveled and more quiet. The route approaches the summit from the west via the Londorossi Gate and one of the most remote quarters of the region.

Lemosho Route and Northern Circuit hikers share the same the same trail from day 1-3. Then the two diverge, Lemosho to the south and the North Circuit to the North.  The North Circuit meet up with the other trails on days 8 & 9.

The Northern Circuit route is the longest of the standard routes and is without doubt the most beautiful. Expect some of the most extraordinary scenery anywhere in Africa, with well preserved forests, sweeping moorland, high desert, and arctic summit.

It offers easy walking days and plenty of opportunity for altitude adjustment, and quieter trails and campsites.

Approximately 60 miles long.

Starting Elevation: 8, 692ft.

Highest Elevation: 19, 340ft.

Days on the mountain: 8

Green Edventures has done it again!! This was a wonderful trip! Our trip leader, Lori, was organized and fun. The local guides were knowledgeable and cooked us delicious meals. Meeting women from all across the country and spending time with them learning about the history and land of Idaho was just what I needed after a busy few months. Thank you, Lori and Green Edventures. I can't wait to see what exciting trips you have planned for 2025!

The trip was absolutely fantastic! Everything went seamlessly, and when weather was an issue on a day, the group would pivot to another activity. Tara and Inga were fun and knowledgeable about all things Icelandic, so that was a bonus. Especially topics such as history and geography, and sharing their expertise -while driving to destinations - helped pass the time on the bus. I would highly recommend this travel company to any woman who wanted a fun edventure!

A trip that will make me smile for a life time. Organized, informative, great tour guide and host, pushed us to explore and learn about ourselves and Iceland. Women traveling were so much fun, easy to get along with and not afraid to be silly. Very comfortable traveling with women just met and everyone looked out for each other. Activities were designed for our abilities and if not comfortable, no pressure from our guides or other travelers. Always a way to be a part of the activity to make it work for you. Iceland was magical, mystical and a country worth a second visit for sure.

Mind blowing experience in a good way! I didn't have any expectations on whether I would like Greenland or not, but I absolutely fell in love with the rugged beauty of the mountains, glaciers, icebergs and villages!! I will be looking at the photos from this trip again and again, just to see the amazing colorful landscape!! (And who knows, maybe I'll go back again 😁)

I signed up for the Greenland trip, paying little attention to anything other than the dates and packing list. Turns out, that’s the perfect way to approach Greenland - with the right gear preparation, an open mind and no specific expectations. Then, this mysterious country slowly unfolds in front of you with surprises (good and less good) around every corner. Tara and our experienced Icelandic guides planned a varied itinerary, aiming to expose us to the sights, sounds and all forms of ice East Greenland has to offer. But, curve balls abounded (mostly weather-related) — each one handled deftly and with humor, while keeping our group engaged and busy. This adventure requires flexibility, willingness to sometimes make do without creature comforts and a bit more physical stamina than some of Tara’s other trips. But boy is it worth it! We laughed, we cried, we oohed and aahed, and like most Green Edventures trips, we did it all with a group of badass women. Thank you for making this incredibly special experience happen!

I went on an amazing trip with Tara to Baja, Mexico in 2020. This was a dream trip for me being a wildlife lover. It was incredible to be able to swim with whale sharks and sea lions and get up close with gray whales. Camping on the beach was amazing. We had a great group of women and everyone vibed well and all of the tour guides including Tara, Alex and Chabello were so fun, friendly and helpful every step of the way. The food was great at the campsite and at the restaurants we got to try. When our trip plans initially got derailed waiting on a negative Covid test and we had to get a different flight, Tara did everything in her power to accommodate us and make sure we got to enjoy every part of the trip, including setting us up with another whale shark swimming tour after we had missed the initial one with the group, and she spent time waiting for us to finish before leaving for the airport. I definitely recommend Green Edventures, especially the Baja Mexico trip!

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
