About this trip

They never put our names down for the ferry list, so we had to repurchase tickets on the spot. When I contacted assistance to ask for a refund and to enquire about my way back to Santa Cruz, they never responded. I recommend buying ferry tickets in person at one of the many tourist shops, this was a scam.

The ride was good except for the choppy sea. The crew were so helpful with getting in and out of the boat to the water taxi and to the land. It was also the same for the ride from Santa Cruz to to Isabela and Isabela to Santa Cruz. Thank you for having a good inter island transfer!

This trip was the return one from Isabela Island to Santa Cruz Island and it was even earlier than the other one, this time at 6:00 in the morning. The sea was a little less rough and it wasn’t raining this time and the ferry boat reached the destination in time. It felt still bumpy inside because of the waves and the small size of the ferry, but in this one water didn’t enter from above, as the boat was probably newer or better repaired compared with the other one. This was a better experience than the last time, but it could significantly improve by changing the ferry with a bigger one, in order to decrease the impact of the waves to the passengers, thus increasing the comfort levels of the trip, so that some of the more tired people could get some sleep without being overwhelmed by the constant bumps. Another aspect that could be changed is the hour of the trip, which is too early from my point of view. Maybe a starting hour of 12:00 at noon or around this time would be better suited for more people, with regard to all ferry trips among the Galápagos Islands.

The trip was quite early in the morning and we needed to take a water taxi to reach the ferryboat. The ferry moved quite fast and reached the destination in about two hours, but the trip was rough as the ocean was turbulent, with big waves and this felt very bumpy inside for everyone. Some of the passengers even had sea sickness because of these hard bumps. Also we couldn’t see the view outside properly from our seats and, because of the waves and occasionally rain, water managed to pour in from above our seats, so some of us got wet because the ferry was quite old and a little rusty, thus water managed to find some spots in the ceiling to fall through. At the end of the trip, we needed to take another water taxi from the ferry to the docks, and both taxis cost 1 US dollar each, which was not included in the ferry tickets’ price. It was an ok experience in the end, but there are definitely things to be improved here.
