About 5 Days Serengeti Migration Safari Tour in Tanzania
This 5-day Big Serengeti Migration Safari package has been created to focus on and maximize your chances of seeing the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in the Ndutu Area during the calving season. The schedule has been intended to encompass the Ndutu Area, where the majority of the wildebeest migration occurs from January to March. This schedule is set out so that you drive into the Serengeti National Park and back to Arusha town. Calving takes place in January, February, and March each year. After the rains begin to fall in January, the herds begin to migrate south of the Serengeti. Many people have wondered how the herds know if it is raining or not, and the truth is that we don't know! Many people claim to be able to smell the rain, while others believe they can detect changes in air pressure. The only thing we know for sure is that the herds follow the rain. Over half a million wildebeest are born in a two- to three-week span, with as many as 8,000 being born on the same day!
The first day of your safari will begin at 8 a.m. with a pick-up from your Arusha accommodation. You will depart for Tarangire National Park once everyone has boarded. The 150 km drive will take roughly 3 hours. The national park is well-known and unique for its varied topography and nine distinct vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be greeted by old and massive Baobab trees, which dwarf even large creatures like the giraffe. The game drive lasts until late afternoon, with a brief halt for a picnic lunch
