About this trip

Join Fins Attached and the Manta Trust on this epic adventure to the Maldives.

This expedition will focus on the south of the Maldives renowned for its pelagic marine life, stunning reefs, and channels.

Expedition Highlights

Tentartive itinerary and highlights:

This expedition will focus on the south of the Maldives renowned for its pelagic marine life, stunning reefs, and channels. A few highlights are:

- Fuvahmulah: this little island is known as the "Galapagos of the Indian ocean" because of its pelagic megafauna including guaranteed encounters with tiger sharks and potential sightings of oceanic mantas, thresher sharks, hammerheads, silvertips, whale sharks to name a few.

- Channel diving: many of the atolls we will be visiting have stunning channel diving where we will encounter schooling grey sharks (sometimes in schools of 20-30 or more), white tip reef sharks, schooling eagle rays, jackfishes, Napoleon wrasses, and much more. Channels concentrate marine life and are the highlight of this region.

- Manta diving: we will be diving at least 3 different manta cleaning stations scattered along the way as well as the potential encounter with the oceanics in Fuvahmulah.

- Night feeding whale sharks: we will be putting floodlights behind the boat at two sites waiting for whale sharks to come feed on the plankton that gets concentrated (an incredible experience!).

- Stunning soft coral diving in Vaavu atoll

Overall, we will see 10 different species of sharks, both species of manta rays, green and hawksbill turtles, and stunning reefs.

Embarkation and Disembarkation

Point of embarkation: Gan (Addu Atoll) - Date of embarkation: 30th March 2025

Time of embarkation: flexible depending on guests’ arrival. We will arrange 2 or 3 transfers from Addu airport to the vessel based on everyone’s arrival times.

Note: guests will need to arrive in Male no later than 6pm to catch the last domestic flight to Addu on the 30th March. Reviews

This was an incredible adventure from start to finish. I was never bored. Between turtle conservation, coral restoration, and diving with so much diverse marine life, this was easily one of the best experiences of my life. I cannot thank the people with Finsattached.org for this opportunity. I hope they do many more of these trips. I cannot endorse them enough. Thank you!

The trip turned out to be an amazing enriching experience, blending adventure with education. The opportunity to observe marine life and underwater ecosystems on one of the world top diving destinations, while witnessing work of marine scientists and attending educative sessions added immense depth to the trip.
