About this trip

North Carolina's third oldest town of Beaufort opens private historic homes to the public annually in June.  This is a chance to see homes built by sailors, pirates, merchants and skilled craftsmen as early as the 1700's that have been lovingly lived in and preserved by families for many generations.  Celebrating the 62nd anniversary, the Old Homes Tour offers tours of a eleven homes and gardens as well as the Beaufort Historic Site along the beautiful historic Front, Ann, Moore and Marsh Streets.  This year's highlight is the Easton House built in 1771 and featured in our State Magazine several years ago.  A self guided brochure and map enable you to enjoy this walking tour at your own pace coupled with time for lunch, visits to other historic sites, churches, art galleries and specialty shops.  It's a full day in a seaport town filled with charm and character!

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

I enjoyed the trip. The Biltmore was in its Christmas splendor, the tour of the grounds was informative, the food at the Grove Park Inn was delicious, the shopping was great, and the accommodations comfortable. I’m glad the trip wasn’t cancelled. The people of Asheville were very appreciative of our patronage.

The trip was very well organized, enjoyable with various interesting stops along the route, such as Farmers Markets and Folk-Art Museum! We truly enjoyed the main attraction, Christmas at Biltmore, with it's breath taking beauty and charm! Comfortable accommodations, in particular the new smooth riding bus, and the company of friendly people made this trip and all around pleasant experience! Thank you, very well done Patty!

It was well organized and well run. We were informed of how to get around, where to eat and when to be back. Love taking trips by Patty!
