About This Trip
Ride the Maratona dles Dolomites, then tick off several bucket list climbs on a pilgrimage to cycling-mad Bormio
This 8-night/9-day trip has you arriving shortly before the Maratona race day. Challenge accomplished, spend a few more days exploring the amazing riding available in the Alta Badia area before using that hard-earned fitness you've built to take on the iconic Stelvio, Gavia, and Mortirolo passes.
There are multiple ride options available for each day, enabling you to choose the level of climbing and mileage you desire. Your accommodations in Corvara are situated in the classic South Tyrolean village of Corvara, only a few pedal strokes from the Maratona finish line. Your conveniently located hotel in Meran allows easy access to the award winning spa facilities, while your base in Bormio offers a great location and facilities specifically geared to cyclists.

Cancellation and Refunds
Balance minus deposit refunded if canceled at least 60 days prior to the trip. For cancellations made between 60 and 15 days prior to the departure, any amount paid will be credited towards a future trip within two years. For cancellations made less than 15 days of departure, no credit can be applied.

Amazing way to start our honeymoon!
We didn't have time to plan our dream Italian cycling trip, but we’re so grateful that Cyclinghero did it for us! We contacted them last minute with quite a few requests, and they more than delivered. We ended up creating a 14-night cycling trip, with most of it planned by them, and everything turned out perfectly at a very reasonable cost.
We started in the Prosecco Hills for about five days and absolutely loved it. It was the perfect beginning, with some of the best riding (and food + wine) of the entire trip. From there, we shuttled to Bormio for a few days of spectacular and challenging rides before finishing with six days of breathtakingly beautiful and intense cycling in the Dolomites.
We went in October, and we definitely wouldn’t have been able to complete many of the rides without Bob and Cyclinghero support. It was incredibly reassuring to know they were always just where we needed them. Whether it was greeting us with hot tea as we layered up for a chilly descent, providing snacks, or offering a shuttle down a pass we’d just climbed in the rain and snow, their support allowed us to push ourselves harder, worry less, and enjoy more.
We’ve done all kinds of cycling vacations—from self-supported to self-guided to fully guided. This custom, supported-but-unguided trip was perfect for us. The Cyclinghero app was a fantastic tool, offering route options with detailed descriptions, as well as recommendations for restaurants, allowing us to make choices based on how we were feeling each day. Plus, the first-class support on the rides, the ability to choose where we wanted to stay (without doing all the research), and setting our own pace made the whole experience even better.
We’ve rarely worked with a company like Cyclinghero. I’m not sure many others like them exist! They were excellent communicators with deep firsthand knowledge of the rides, the regions, and the restaurants. The booking and customization process was seamless, and they were incredibly helpful throughout. We’re so grateful they truly delivered, and we’re already planning to ride with them again—hopefully for the Maratona!

For anyone reading this to evaluate whether or not to plan a trip to the Dolomites with Cycling Hero -- our trip was an unparalleled SUCCESS!! Our group was 6 average riders -- in our early 60's and lifelong friends -- who wanted to challenge ourselves (but not TOO much) in this magnificent part of the world. We started our trip with the Sellaronda Day -- highly recommended as the ride is probably the most beautiful we've done, and roads closed to car traffic. Cyclists of all ages and abilities partake.
But, back to CH. Bob Rogers and Catarina Biffis were amazing, friendly, and competent as our guides and hosts throughout our trip. We had chosen to do a custom itinerary as opposed to one of Cycling Hero's pre-arranged rides. Bob and Catarina were extremely helpful in fine-tuning our route, finding first rate accommodations and restaurants, and since we were mixing riding and hiking, connecting us to some great hiking routes, including a Via Ferrata trip up Piccolo and Grand Cir.
Its important to note that during the back half of our trip, a major snowstorm blew in -- no one was ready for it as it was only Sept 12! Bob and Catarina were flexible and very responsive as we tried to re-jigger our activities (hike in the snow, re-orient rides away from cold, snow-covered passes) to fit the weather. We ended up still having a fabulous last few days.
Bob and Catarina live in Corvara, and so are extremely knowledgeable regarding the Dolomites area. All of our accommodations were top-notch (we highly recommend the Rosapetra in Cortina d'Ampezzo) and the restaurants excellent. We were on gravel bikes, so Bob's expertise on local bike paths and gravel roads was extremely helpful.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip with CH. We've done a bike ride every year for the last 10 years, and used many different guides. If we ever come back to Northern Italy, we'll definitely work with Bob and Caterina again. Recommend with 5 stars!

We just returned to CO following a phenomenal cycling trip supported by CyclingHero. As the designated trip organizer I started planning our adventure 10 months ago and impressed by their website, CyclingHero made the top four companies under consideration. After talking with representatives of each, Bob Rogers stood out from the others as he clearly understood what we felt mattered in a custom trip and developed an excellent proposal at a very reasonable price. The six of us are avid cyclists and over the past 25 years we have enjoyed many trips to cycling destinations. there have been a variety of experiences: fully guided group rides, organized bike camps, custom private trips, self-guided and even self-supported tours. Sometimes we brought our own bikes, but usually looked to rent high quality equipment. Collectively we have traveled with Backroads, Cyclismo, Experience Plus, Herzeler, Stephen Roche, Thomson, Trek, Undiscovered Country, and others but we all agreed that CyclingHero rated number one!
Everything under their control was managed perfectly. Other factors, like a freak early-season snowstorm, was mitigated by their suggestion of alternate routes and excellent support they provided during the rides. My expectations regarding the lodging, the recon of routes, the quality of the bikes and especially the level of personalized service were all exceeded! Thank you to Bob and Caterina for ensuring our wonderful experience. I hope to talk with you soon to plan our next tour with CyclingHero! Ciao!

Amazing trip. Catarina took care of us at every turn. The weather was not always cooperative so she arranged hiking for us to do. She continued to track us the entire time to make sure were were not lost and surprised us by taking photos of us as we rode by. The restaurants she booked were amazing. It was just a blast. Thank you.

If you are looking to take a cycling trip to Italy, you have absolutely come to the right place! My fiancé and I booked a cycling trip in June 2024 that departed September 2024. I connected with Bob and Catarina who were always available for phone calls to answer any questions. Once the trip was booked, they remained available and answered all questions leading up our big adventure. We biked in Treviso, to the Prosecco Hills and spend a couple days in the Dolomites. The experience was absolutely unforgettable. Treviso was the perfect way to be introduced and get our feet wet onto the Italy roads. The Prosecco Hills were stunning!!! There were minimal cars on the road and the views were beautiful! The Dolomites were an absolute dream. The accommodations were incredible!!
Bob and Catarina have created the perfect app which allows riders to be able to view the potential routes. The details on the app provides distance, elevation, the amount of climbs, etc. The app was super helpful and allowed us to decide everyday which was the best route to take each morning.
The best thing about this trip was the fact that it is not completely self guided, but also not guided. Bob and Catarina give you the flexibility to explore on your own accord. They provide recommendations and suggestions to ensure each day is a perfect day. They are available in the event you need assistance, however they allow you to ride at your own pace. They were the perfect hosts! They met us along the way many days to make sure our water bottles were full, we had a snack, and ensured we were okay! We unfortunately had a couple rainy days (which didn't stop us from getting on our bikes) and Catarina and Bob came with warm tea and our bags with changes of clothes to warm up!
If you are considering a biking trip in Italy, this is the place to be! They make the planning process simple. They are accommodating and flexible. They are wonderful people!
This trip was a dream and if we are in Italy again, we would definitely be in touch with Bob and Catarina to help us organize the perfect cycling trip.

Just finished a fun cycling trip with my wife and friends in the Dolomite region last week made possible by CyclingHero, Inc. Spent 3 nights each in posh cycling hotels in Corvara, Merano and Bormio. Rode 8 out of 8 days including the Sella Ronda and Passo Stelvio. If I had the legs, I could have ridden all the epic climbs! Support was excellent as were the rental bikes. Bob and Caterina couldn't be more friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you are looking for a cycling trip that's reasonable, well planned and perfectly executed, CyclingHero, Inc. is the way to go. 5 Stars. Paul Swenson
