About this trip

Join us on this exclusive tour that culminates with the Great Steamboat Race - an iconic 50+ year tradition of the Kentucky Derby Festival that includes fun, food, bourbon, and riverboat racing prior to the running of the Kentucky Derby.

Enjoy cruising on the river each day for 3 days on the Belle of Cincinnati and each evening stoping and spending the night in a hotel. The last day on the Belle of Cincinnati cheer us on as we meet up with the Belle of Louisville for our race down the River. See you at the finish line.

Day 1   Saturday, April 27   New Jersey / Ohio

6:00 am   Departs Toms River, NJ Park n Ride

6:30 am  Departs Brick, Target 

                 30 minute morning comfort stop

                   1 hour lunch stop

5:30 pm  Arrive Embassy Suites Hotel for 1 night stay

6:45 pm  Sunny Street Café for a Irish dinner and fun        
                After dinner return to hotel       

Day 2   Sunday, April 28   Ohio / Kentucky 

7-8:30 am   Enjoy a nice breakfast included    

  9:00 am     Depart Embassy Suites with Luggage 

10:15 am      Arrive Air and Space Museum Dayton,Oh.

6:30 am   Arrive at BB Riverboats, 101 Riverboat Row. Newport, KY

7:00 am   Boat departs Newport, Kentucky (Port of Cincinnati) 

9:00 am   Full breakfast is served on board.Throughout the day Craft / Game (TBD-

                   Pillows/Tote Bags, Puzzles/Cards?)

11:00 am   Lunch is served on board with Entertainment

                   After lunch we meet bus in Aurora,IN Mt.Tabor Alpaca Farm

2:00 pm    Arrive back to Riverboat 

3:00 pm    Game Time and Happy Hour with Appetizers and Entertainment 

5:00 pm    Travel through Markland Lock and Dam

6:00 pm     Dinner begins onboard riverboat 

7:00 pm     Arrive at Belterra Resort and Spa for a 1 night stay  

                    Guests can show their Driver’s License at the B Connected Cage to the   
                        left of the entrance of the Casino for a complimentary $10 Gaming Card


Day 4  Tuesday, April 30   Indiana / Kentucky 

6-730 am     Breakfast this morning in the Oak Room (passed the Showroom)

7-7:30 am   Bring your luggage down to the bus no later

 8:15 am      Board boat in Vevay, In cruise to Louisville, KY

 9:30 am     Craft/Game Time (TBD- Rocks & Bag Painting / Horse Shoes & Golf)

11:00 am      Lunch is served on board with Entertainment

We had a nice time however the bus was a little tight and the German Christmas Fair was extremely crowded and not enjoyable at all then on to the dinner theater food was OK however the show was terrific. We arrived at the hotel about 10:30pm (after some confusion with rooms) exhausted but the hotel was beautiful, we were told that the food card credit of $40 could only be used in the breakfast cafe it felt like a rest stop and food was below average, the next day we were informed we could have used it anywhere in the hotel info that should have been given us upon arrival. We went to the Snoopy Ice Show at 11am it was cute but then there wasn’t anything planned until dinner at 5:30pm went to Bartucci’s (which I like) but we were rushed barely had time to chew our food in and out within an hour having a 3 course meal and NO decaf coffee, then back to the hotel were the hotel had a light show. Everything was crammed into Sunday and nothing scheduled for Monday afternoon not even suggestions on things to do near by (our guide seemed unfamiliar with this venue) Old Alexandria was nice and quaint but would be more enjoyable in warmer weather and then back on the bus ( our bus driver was great).Overall I rate it a 3 and probably will not use Gary’s Fun Bus again.

This was a great trip. Even with the rainy weather, it was a fun day out. We enjoyed the train exhibit, the food and of course the company. Robert was great with us all. He accommodated everyone and was very engaged with the passengers. The bus was comfortable and clean and the bus driver was a pro. Looking forward to the next trip with Garys Tours!

I’ve been with Gary‘s tours for a long time, the buses are clean. The ride is comfortable. The people are wonderful the Nashville resorts Tropicana all trips were wonderful. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great getaway thank you Gary and your team.
