This morning visit the CKS Memorial Hall, national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. Visit Dadaocheng Wharf on Dihua Street before transfering to the Longhsan Temple after lunch. The Chinese folk religious temple in Wanhua District serves as a place of worship and a gathering place for the Chinese settlers. In addition to its Buddhist elements, it includes halls and altars to Chinese deities such as Mazu and Guan Yu. On to the  Taipei 101, the world’s tallest skyscraper until 2009. Amazingly by design, it is able to withstand the Pacific Ring of Fire’s earthquakes and the region’s tropical storms. Before finishing the day, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and some shopping in the famous pedestrian section of Taipei, Ximending.  B, L, D

After breakfast, visit a local school with the group. Take a ride on the Maokong Gondola, which stops at the Zhinan Temple, a beautiful temple set on the mountainside including a tea experience. Both the temple and the gondola offer unparalleled views of the city, including the Taipei 101. After lunch, continue on to the famous Taipei Zoo, sometimes referred to as the “Muzha Zoo.” It is the most famous zoological garden in Taiwan with multiple habitats to see including the Giant Panda House. Transfer to the Yingge Ceramic Museum, which permanently exhibits traditional pottery, the history of pottery and exhibits that feature futuristic ceramics. After lunch, discover Sanxia Old Street, famous for its horn bread, which was a prosperous commercial street during the Qing dynasty. Entering is like walking into a time tunnel: See red brick arched corridors and Baroque-style buildings. Savor the tranquility of the Bitan Scenic Area with a serene boat ride through its emerald waters, surrounded by lush hills and breathtaking views. Dinner at a local restaurant.  B, L, D

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the art of ancient script by taking a calligraphy class where you can master the graceful strokes and timeless elegance of traditional writing. Dive into the flavors of Taiwan with a cooking class where you’ll craft xiao long bao, savory meat soup, and the iconic bubble tea. This morning, explore Taiwan’s rich history at the National Palace Museum, home to an impressive collection of ancient Chinese artifacts, where each exhibit tells a story of a bygone era. After lunch, gaze into the wonders of the universe at the Astronomy Science Education Center, where the stars come to life, offering an interactive journey through space and time. Finally, wander through Tamsui Old Street, a charming riverside area filled with traditional shops, street food, and a nostalgic atmosphere.
