The Heart of Travel was born out of a deep-rooted love and passion for travel, art, history, food, nature, culture and adventure as well as a call to give back to the communities and people that had already provided us with so much. The travel industry has long been bombarded with double decker tour busses, beach front resorts and cruise ships, often at the expense of the local communities. As a response to this failing system, we began a boutique travel company that allows clients to explore new places in an authentic and non-touristy way, offering travelers a more intimate and unique experience all while removing the stress and hassle of researching, planning, bargain hunting, reserving and more that goes along with planning a trip or vacation.

This trip was beyond expectations and absolutely phenomenal. Ecuador was a beautiful and vibrant city; it was a blast exploring the market and the magnificent churches. The Galapagos was breathtaking and we went at a perfect time as the sea was calm and the animals abundant. I would highly recommend this trip for people who love animals and the sea as it is the foundation of the Galapagos. Snorkeling with sea turtles, sea lions and PENGUINS was a once in a lifetime experience. Chiva, Charlie, and Gustavo went above and beyond as our tour guides. If we had feedback, they went were able to accommodate us and truly helped make this trip wonderful.

A great trip all around. Saw all the wildlife we had hopped to see. Heart of Travel guides Gustavo, Charlie and Chiva were very attentive and worked to make sure our experience was the best. Would not hesitative to recommend this trip to others.

This was my second Heart of Travel trip, and honestly, I'm counting down the days and weeks to my next two (or three!). I am continually astounded by the thoughtfulness, pitch-perfect curation, and expertise, kindness, and professionalism of everyone I've encountered with HoT. I felt so welcome and secure in Ecuador. As a female who travels alone frequently, I felt super-empowered by the suggestions of my guides Gustavo, Charlie, and Chiva. I loved so many of the restaurants we went to, and I especially loved seeing ALL THE WILDLIFE in the Galapagos! The snorkeling excursions, the nature walks, and seeing Quito up close and personal through the eyes of Gustavo (a native Ecudaorian) was inspiring, and being there during the start of their Holy Week was an unexpected bonus. Those churches were INCREDIBLE, and honestly rivaled (and even bested!) some of the most ornate cathedrals I've seen in Europe. I'm still thinking about the rainbow fish and BABY SHARKS we saw off Isabela island, and my most favorite -- ALL THE PENGUINS. We even got to see a baby penguin who was molting and SO FLUFFY. The best part of these trips is reconnecting with friends I've met on previous trips. Chelsea and the HoT team really go SO FAR out of their way to make you feel included, heard, listened to, valued and like my feedback and opinions matter. I think traveling as a part of a group of diverse travelers, some of for whom this was their first trip, and others who have already hit all seven continents is a really, really unique experience and my favorite part of the trip was our PRIVATE BEACH we had (unexpectedly!) where the entire tour group, including all the guides, got in the water and laughed and told stories and really enjoyed each others' company in the late morning toward the end of our trip. I never, ever thought that I'd fall so in love with Latin America, and feel confident enough to be able to explore on my own and spend several days speaking only Spanish. I'm so happy and grateful for this trip. The only thing we need now is a punch card so that we can get buy 9 get one free on these trips because I'm sure I'll be doing much more than the next three I have planned! :)

This was a well-planned trip with enough time to see a bit of Ecuador and a great deal of the Galapagos Islands. The Heart of Travel guides (Chiva and Charlie) were knowledgeable, accommodating, empathetic, and gracious hosts who consistently made the trip excellent. When there was an airline glitch at the Quito airport for our boarding passes to the Galapagos, Chiva and Charlie worked tirelessly to ensure that all of us guests made the flight (they had to wait to join us 3 days later, but HOT had fully competent guides at the Galapagos end so we didn't feel lost at any time). When a few of us expressed concern about insufficient time at the Darwin Research Center the first day, they listened and responded by arranging extra tour time there the last morning we were on Santa Cruz Island. They made good restaurant, shop, and museum recommendations for the occasional times we were on our own. Several of us had food allergies and/or preferences and they worked with all the restaurants we visited to make those known with menus adjusted as necessary for us as individuals and without affecting the group in general. My wife and I had a full extra day in Quito due to a flight at 11 pm and HOT arranged a special outing to Otavalo with Gustavo, who was also a great day guide early in the trip. His itinerary with us that last day was fascinating and a great experience and I'd strongly recommend this as an add-on to anyone going to Ecuador. Our group size of 13 travelers and 2 guides was a good number and allowed for fun interactions with people from across the United States. We've been fortunate enough to travel to a number of countries both on our own and with several tour companies and I would recommend the Heart of Travel trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos without hesitation.

Epic ladies trip! Guatamala exceeded expectations with volcanos, ancient ruins in Tikal, spa days, and the most delicious food! Would highly recommend this trip! The guides were amazing and knowledgeable as well. Chiba & Charlie were friendly and always answered any questions we had. They also made accommodations for us as well.

I cannot recommend Heart of Travel more enthusiastically! We took a trip to Guatemala to see the Giant Kite Festival in Sumpango. It was important to us to learn about Guatemalan culture, people, history, food, and have authentic experiences where we could get to know people. From my very first conversation with the team, I felt confident in their experience and that our values aligned. They absolutely exceeded expectations - everything was perfect! The travel arrangements, hotels, restaurants and activities were all impeccably well executed. The variety and intimate nature of all our activities was superb, as was our amazing guide, Selvyn. His passion for his country and people is heartwarming, his knowledge of culture and history is encyclopedic. He is a consummate professional, taking care of everything we could possibly have needed or wanted. He is also a tremendously warm and wonderful person who we felt really fortunate to get to know. The work by the entire team behind the scenes to ensure a magically seamless trip is impressive. We fell in love with Guatemala; the beauty of the country, warm smiles of the people, amazing food, rich history, and an incredibly well-planned tour led by an expert guide - what's not to love?! You will love Heart of Travel!

Heart of Travel is the best for magical and ethical vacations! Chelsea and her incredible team first won me over in Guatemala in 2023 as they planned a beautiful trip that allowed us to see and experience so many different places, people, and things. A helicopter ride, a volcano hike, spa day, meeting the most badass Mayan weaver!!, a once-in a lifetime sunset tour in Tikal - done. I'm still trying to get over this trip lol. They knocked it out of the park again in Cuba for NYE! Chelsea and the spectacular Paloma had us dancing multiple nights away, eating the BEST food, and seeing ALL the sights while also giving us ample opportunity to support the Cuban people and educating us on why that is so important. You will leave their trips with new memories, new friends, and possibly, some new perspectives. Do it!!!
