Diaspora African Forum: Continue your journey at the Diaspora African Forum, a hub for reconnecting people of African descent with their roots. Engage in discussions about the African diaspora, its impact on global history and culture, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Africa and its diaspora communities. Learn about initiatives aimed at promoting unity, collaboration, and development across borders.  

Black Star Square (Independence Square): Next, visit the iconic Black Star Square, also known as Independence Square, a symbol of Ghana's independence from colonial rule. Marvel at the monumental arch and the Independence Arch, which represent the country's journey to freedom. Capture breathtaking views of the surrounding area and learn about the significance of the square in Ghanaian history and national identity.  

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Park: Pay homage to Ghana's first president and the architect of its independence, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Park. Explore the mausoleum housing Nkrumah's final resting place and exhibits showcasing his life, achievements, and vision for Ghana and Africa. Stroll through the lush park grounds, reflecting on Nkrumah's legacy of Pan-Africanism and his enduring impact on the continent.
 

Arts Centre: Conclude your day with a visit to the vibrant Arts Centre, a bustling hub of creativity and craftsmanship. Browse through an array of traditional and contemporary art, textiles, jewelry, and souvenirs crafted by local artisans. After your tour, you'll head back to your hotel to unwind and prepare for dinner on your own.  We will, of course, provide options to suit any palate!

Expect a moderate amount of walking. There will be time to rest between attractions. To enjoy this tour, you should be prepared to walk slightly longer distances, climb stairs and tolerate periods of standing. 

Today you will enjoy the scenic drive east for a small taste of Ghana's natural wonders in the Eastern Region and enjoy an authentic renaming ceremony.

We start with a visit to the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Museum. Named after the pioneering cocoa farmer who introduced cocoa to Ghana in the 19th century, this museum provides a comprehensive overview of Ghana's cocoa industry. Learn about the history of cocoa cultivation, its economic impact, and the chocolate-making process. Don't forget to indulge in some delectable chocolate treats available at the museum shop. 

Next you'll continue to Nyame Bekyere which means God will provide - our home village.  Home of Nana Kwabena Duke, I - aka Nana One  - our very own leader, Diallo Sumbry for your authentic renaming ceremony and a delicious homemade lunch with our family in the village.  Tour the Community Center and begin your trek back to Accra.

Aburi Botanical Gardens is next for an afternoon of relaxation and exploration. Spread across 64 hectares, these gardens are home to a diverse collection of plant species from across the globe. Take a leisurely stroll along the winding paths, marvel at the vibrant flora, and enjoy the refreshing breeze. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the serene ponds, picturesque waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints scattered throughout the gardens. 

Conclude your day trip with a visit to the Aburi Craft Market, where you can browse a wide array of handcrafted souvenirs and traditional Ghanaian artwork. From intricately woven textiles to beautifully carved wooden sculptures, the market offers a treasure trove of unique items to take home as mementos of your journey. Engage with local artisans, haggle for the best prices, and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling market.

Appropriate for travelers who are physically fit, expect a vigorous pace and enjoy participating in two to three hours of physical activity per day. 

Today is all yours.  This is a great opportunity to have fun on one of our optional excursions or immerse yourself in the vibrant energy and cultural richness of the city.

With the convenience of ride-sharing services like Uber, Bolt or Yango, coupled with the expertise of our hosts, exploring becomes effortless and exciting. You'll see Ghana up close and personal like a local.

Visiting Makola Market where you can wander through the maze of stalls, sampling local delicacies, bargaining with vendors, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.  

Exploring Jamestown where you can stroll through the narrow streets lined with colonial-era architecture.  

A visit to the National Museum of Ghana where can see exhibits showcasing the country's history, art, and traditions, with our tour guides providing context and interpretation.

Take a walk through Osu, browsing the boutiques and galleries and the Oxford Street Market.

Today, we will visit one of the largest existing dungeons designed to hold enslaved Africans on the west coast of Africa.

After a drive approximately 3.5 hours, arrive at Assin Manso Last Bath Slave River and walk in the footsteps of your ancestors.  After Assin Manso, we move to Cape Coast Dungeon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most infamous slave forts in West Africa. Built by the Swedish in the 17th century and later expanded by the British, the castle served as a major trading post for enslaved Africans bound for the New World.  

Both sites of spaces where incalculable human violations occurred, however, The Adinkra Group - along with its guides - seeks to see this pilgrimage as one that focuses on our resilience and honors our ancestors' tenacity to survive despite all obstacles.

Today is reserved for shopping and preparing for your rip home before your farewell meal and transit to the airport. Try on clothes from tailor, make adjustments and any final day visits.
