An Old-Fashioned Holiday Hideaway is a cozy, nostalgic retreat where guests can relax and indulge in the magic of the holiday season, surrounded by vintage holiday décor and heartwarming activities. With every detail thoughtfully handled by our attentive staff, guests will experience a stress-free, idyllic holiday weekend filled with joy, connection, and festive cheer!

Friday: Arrive, Get Cozy, and Settle In

• 1:00 to 6:00 pm: Check-in at Durward's Glen, enjoy quiet time to decompress and relax
• 6:00 pm: Welcome, white elephant exchange, and family-style holiday supper!
• 7:00 to 8:30 pm: Heart warming holiday activity such as baking cookies from recipes found in the vaults of the Caledonia local country mothers , building unique gingerbread homes, doing nostalgic puzzles together, reading holiday poems, watching classic holiday movies, or DIY vintage holiday crafts! 
• 8:30 pm: Quiet time 

Saturday: Embrace the Holiday Cheer!

• Morning
  • 7:00 - 10:00 am: A holiday themed breakfast prepared by "Chef Mary" and coffee clutch
  • 10:00 - 11:30 am:  Homemade Chicken Dumpling Soup For The Soul: Mastering the art of Mom's nostalgic, cure-all, best-ever, full-of-wisdom soup 
• Afternoon
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch: Soup, Sandwiches, and Hot Apple Cider 
  • 1:00 - 2:00 pm: Hibernation time, nap time, reading or writing time
  • 2:00 pm: Heart warming holiday activity such as baking cookies from recipes found in the vaults of the Caledonia local country mothers , building unique gingerbread homes, doing nostalgic puzzles together, reading holiday poems, watching classic holiday movies, or DIY vintage holiday crafts! 
  • 3:30 - 5:30 pm: Solace in the stillness: quiet creative expression time - arts & crafts, reading, journaling, walking the trails, reflection, individual meeting with Retreat Director, prayer or meditation
  • 4:30 pm: Old-Fashioned Happy Hour: Appetizers, snacks, holiday mocktails and cocktails
  • 6:30 pm: Candlelight supper with vintage holiday dishes
  • 7:30 pm: Candlelight walk along the winter paths
  • 8:00 pm: Bonfire gathering: sharing stories & connecting with others with hot cocoa

Sunday: Implementing The Art of Slow Living

• 7:00 - 10:00 am: Holiday brunch & coffee clutch
• 10:00 am: Heart warming holiday activity such as baking cookies from recipes found in the vaults of the Caledonia local country mothers , building unique gingerbread homes, doing nostalgic puzzles together, reading holiday poems, watching classic holiday movies, holiday card collaging, or DIY vintage holiday crafts! 
• 10:00 am: Farewell gathering and holiday heart healing group session
• 11:00 - 12:30 pm: Departure with a Heart Full of Holiday Cheer
