Welcome to the Ancestral Hunting School Womens Elk Hunting offering, taking place in Northern Colorado, in December 9-12, 2024
This unique online and hands-on experience is designed to teach the essentials about hunting, butchering and processing elk while connecting to the land, animals, each other and ultimately yourself.
Ancestral Hunting School Elk hunting, founded by Ken Conte, is an invitation for those who have some hunting experience and want to be connected with their food, be more self-reliant and learn the skills necessary to thrive in the outdoors. We teach skills to help on an elk hunt including spotting elk, stalking elk, ancestral skills, effective kill zone for an elk, field dressing, processing and how to use every part of the animal. This is hands on and you will have a coach with you out in the field. We have access to thousands of private acres in Colorado and will be staying at the ranch house, where you will have lodging and all your meals will be provided.
You can expect to come out of this experience with a new appreciation for your food, the land and a sense of being more self-sufficient. This will ripple out into the rest of your world with potential outcomes including reverence for food, connection to nature, better concentration through long times in nature, attention to detail through firearms safety and emotional regulation through being able to ramp up and slow down when needed. There is no guarantee on harvesting an elk, but we have had great results with 4 of 5 hunters harvesting cow Elk this past year.
