About this trip

Join us in an authentic Amazon Immersion in the Sapara and Achuar indigenous territories!

A Pachamama Journey offers a unique opportunity to experience a profound immersion with Indigenous people from the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador.

You will be invited into the Sapara and Achuar indigenous culture and traditions. You will be welcomed at remote indigenous-owned ecolodges and communities that offer an authentic opportunity to disconnect and spend time in nature, and engage in real conversations and interaction with the indigenous hosts. A Pachamama Journey includes rainforest hikes, river excursions in canoes and kayaks, and wildlife opportunities. All this takes place in the Sapara and Achuar indigenous land, where you will experience their cultural practices and traditions, including wellness in nature, medicinal plant and healing ceremonies.

Beyond being a unique travel experience, a Pachamama Journey is an opportunity to discover the Amazon Rainforest, its people, while providing the opportunity to learn about the work that Fundación Pachamama, the Pachamama Alliance, and their allies carry out in support of indigenous communities of the Amazon Rainforest.

This was an amazing trip from start to finish, the trip of a lifetime which has significantly and positively impacted my life. Living with, adventuring with, cleansing with, and learning from the Achuar tribe of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest has truly expanded my worldview and fueled my passion for conservation. The accommodations before, during, and after the time in the remote rainforest were exceptional, and the food was delicious and nourishing.

I cannot stress enough how life-changing an experience this was. Estefania, our guide, was excellent - an interpreter, a leader, and a friend all in one. She made me feel comfortable every step of the way and as though my voice was valued. Meeting with the Sapara and Achuar communities was an experience of both of great learning and of mutual understanding. I learned from them that the earth loves us and is pleading for us to love it - and one another - back. I came to know and love myself in a way I had never before. I truly feel connected to the earth and every living thing inhabiting it as a result of this trip in a way that I cannot unsee and will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Close contact with the Indigenous People's way of life, penetrating presence deep in the forest, and transformative experience through the Shamanic ceremony—a meaningful and fulfilling experience for the body, spirit, mind, and heart. Ernest Y.

This was a wonderful trip, well organized, full of pleasure, education and inspiration. Estafania was an exceptional guide. Both the Sapara and Achuar communities welcomed us as family and were good teachers. I highly recommend this trip, hosted by Pachamama, for anyone who wants to learn of indigenous wisdom and embed themselves in a rich and important forest.

This was a wonderfully curated, safe experience! I walked away with a spiritual connection to the jungle and to the Achuar and Sapara communities, along with a renewed commitment to Gaia. From the city of Quita to the Andes highlands and deep into the jungle, the people of Ecuador are all welcoming and kind. Unfortunately, we saw firsthand the damage from climate change and the pervasive practices of extraction--particularly in unprecedented flooding and the on-going ruination of pristine rivers and forests. I am grateful to be a part of an organization committed to awakening from this dream. Our leaders--especially Estefania and Chumpi-- were wonderful. They anticipated our needs and went above and beyond. I had hoped to learn from the indigenous people we connected with and I did. Dream interpretation, conservation and sustainability practices, listening to the spirits of nature--all important skills for my personal journey. It was a life-changing experience. Makete!
