On June 24, 1981 six children witnessed the Blessed Virgin Mary on what is now known as Apparition Hill in the peaceful and historical town of Medjugorje. The apparition had a message of peace for the world, as well as a call to conversion, prayer and fasting. Mike Nolan, who first traveled to Medjugorje in 1990, has been leading pilgrims there since 2005. On May 13, 2019 the Holy See officially announced that Dioceses and Parishes throughout the world are now authorized to organize pilgrimages to Medjugorje. To date, over 40+ million people have visited this peaceful pilgrimage site.

Medjugorje is beautiful in its simplicity and peace. It is a place where the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. In this sacred place, Our Lady will invite you under her mantle to learn to pray with the heart. She will draw you close to her Son to receive His healing love through Holy Mass, Confession, and prayer. On this pilgrimage, you will be led to embrace your identity as a beloved child of God, who, filled with the Holy Spirit, is commissioned to carry Our Lady's message of peace and conversion to the world.

Fr. Svet says in his book entitled Pilgrimage, “A pilgrimage is a journey, assigned by God. It brings the pilgrim not only to a physical place, but out of himself, and into the presence of God. All else falls away. There is only the child, his Father, and eternity…” This is really why we are being called to make such a journey. A “body language” that speaks loudly and clearly to God. “Father, I want to know you!”

It was the pilgrimage I was waiting for more than 20 years. Everything from food, accommodations, spiritual direction and harmony was all I had envisioned and even more. Thank you Mike and Katie for such awesome experience and for giving all your best to make it unforgettable. For this I am grateful! God bless you both. Etna B.

What an amazing pilgrimage! The people, the worship, the food...EVERYTHING was lovely! The joy and peace that permeates Medjugorje is unmistakable, and the way that the guides provide meaningful experiences each day made the trip so memorable and powerful.

The October 2024 pilgrimage trip to Medjugorje exceeded all our expectations and more. I would encourage everyone to make the trip once and I guarantee you will want to return again. I learned about Medjugorje 31 years ago and I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to make the trip. It is such a beautiful, peaceful and holy place. Truly heaven on earth! Our wonderful and amazing leaders were Mike Nolan and Katie Reis. They added a component of the trip that was priceless. Mike was so incredibly knowledgeable regarding biblical history, scripture, and backed up phenomenally by Katie. On top of everything else, one of our favorite times of the day were the early morning sessions that started with coffee, the rosary and singing praises. Mike’s guitar and voice, along with Katie’s made it pretty special to say the least. We had two very special priests with us on pilgrimage, Fr. Cassian and Fr. Binu. They led us in a number of exciting and powerful religious activities and provided us with love, affection, compassion, and true kindness. So giving of themselves! Our guide, Ana was phenomenal and so knowledgeable about Medjugorje. She added another level of context to the meaning of being in Medjugorje. Our pilgrim group was just a great collection of people. There was a lot of diversity in age differences but everyone got along splendidly, and we will cherish those friendships forever! Last but not least, thank you to Mike’s wife Annie, his daughter Mara and all those who helped organize the pilgrimage. Also for the ongoing prayers before and throughout our pilgrimage! Thank you, thank you, Kip and Nancy Farnum Gillette, Wyoming

Such a beautiful pilgrimage, filled with many prayerful moments and delightful company! To rest in the arms of Mary there in Medjugorje was a source of great grace, coupled with the many spiritual gifts of Mike and Katie made this a very deep spiritual encounter that I am truly grateful for and feel has impacted my prayer life so profoundly. I look forward to returning to this little slice of heaven on earth in the future and continuing to be a part of the Shadow on the Water community!

Indescribable graces flowed throughout the trip and continue to do so as I’ve returned home! Mike and Katie served us pilgrims as such beautiful Spiritual guides and truly allowed the Holy Spirit and Momma Mary to take over the trip! They catered to each of us so beautifully and poured themselves out each day to help us receive all that our Lady wanted to give us! Our guide, Ana, was the absolute best and most beautiful soul—this trip wouldn’t have been the same without her and her love for our Lady!! Thank you, Mike and Katie!! I will be back!!!🩵
