RAINFORESTATION
Your shuttle coach will transfer you to Rainforestation, set in 40 hectares of lush gardens and tropical rainforest, a number of unique attractions await you. Board the unusual amphibious Army Duck for a different look at the rainforest. An experienced guide will show you unique tropical fruits, ancient rainforest plants and point out a number of our native animals as you meander through the rainforest. Join the Dreamtime Walk for an insight into ancient Aboriginal Culture. The Pamagirri Dancers perform a range of native dances in the Rainforest Amphitheatre that reflects their humour and excitement of their culture. Then you will visit the Koala & Wildlife Park. Cuddle a koala (own expense), smile at a crocodile and hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies before returning to Kuranda.

At your pre-allocated time board Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and be amazed as you journey over and through World Heritage protected Rainforest. Your Boarding Pass is your ticket for this iconic rainforest experience that includes time at both Red Peak and Barron Falls stations, both with spectacular lookouts. Your afternoon eco tour is spent in the Waitakere Ranges. In just 30 minutes you leave behind the bustle of the city and step into the tranquillity of the rainforest. Travel to the Arataki Centre, an information centre built high on the ridge of the Waitakere Ranges. From here you get breathtaking panoramic views across the rainforest to Auckland’s two harbours. The visitors centre is also home to some traditional Maori carvings and your guide will talk about them and explain their significance for the area. Continue on to the lush rainforest where you walk the easy tracks among giant tree ferns and view New Zealand’s famous kauri trees and silver ferns.

Move on to experience the power of the wild and rugged west coast. Feel the black sand of Piha beach beneath your feet as you stroll along one of the most awe-inspiring beaches the world has to offer. Head towards the famous Waitomo Glow-worm Caves after a tasty lunch at The Green Dragon Inn, where the glow-worms await. A guided 45-minute tour will take you through this underground wonder. Learn about stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone structures that formed the caves 30 million years ago. Then, hop on a boat and sail softly through the Glow-worm Grotto as you gaze at the sparkling glow-worms in serene silence. Finish off the tour with a coach ride back to Auckland.
