About this trip

In 2015 I was asked to come to Costa Rica to shoot video for one of my best friend's wedding.  While there, I took the opportunity to travel from the Pacific coast to the Caribbean coast of the Atlantic in a city called Puerto Limon.  It was there that I encountered the Afro-Costa Ricans that inhabit the Eastern coast.  I fell in love with the natural beauty of the land, the overwhelming hospitality of the people, and the blissful food of the region.

Though I had returned to the United States, my mind and heart has remained in Afro-Costa Rica.  So in August of 2017, I made a return to Costa Rica.  My children accompanied me and we went specifically to witness the celebration for Black History Month.  I had high expectations and they were exceeded at every turn.  The music, the food,  the history, the parade, the pride, and the love that my children and I felt in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica is almost too difficult to put into words.  We spent three weeks on the Caribbean coast and in our return, my children and I brought with us a multitude of experiences and stories.  My children found new family.  New aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters. And in August of 2019, we are going back.  Only this time, we want to take YOU with us.

Itinerary

Day 1 Paradise Awaits
From the U.S to Puerto Limon

Tuesday August 27th

The journey begins as we leave from Miami.  Once on the plane, we will fly to San Jose, Costa Rica.  In San Jose, we will be picked up from the Airport by our personal chauffeur to be taken with us for the duration of our experience in Costa Rica.  He will pick us up, lead us through the Caribbean coast, and bring us back to San Jose when we leave.

Immediately, upon our arrive we will be whisked to the city of Puerto Limon.

Along the way, we will eat lunch in one of the local restaurants between San Jose and Puerto Limon on route 32.  San Jose will look familiar in that it is a modern city.  But it is when we leave San Jose, down the mountain and through the rainforest that we see a completely different world.

We will get to the our hostel, unpack, wash, rest and then go into the city in possibly play in the water for a bit at La Piuta.  Afterwards we will have dinner at Gecko Cafe & Grill.

I am a lover of culture. All cultures. And i have been blessed to have been able to travel and interact with people from all over the world. Hearing stories from people who became friends and family over various "exotic" foods has been a blessing. And I wan to share that blessing with as many people as possible.
