If you like your scenic views from the ground up, you’ll love this magnificent walk through Jamison Valley.

Originally built by the Katoomba community, from Leura Forest to Katoomba Falls, the track was extended on the old horse-drawn coal tramway line and now can be followed all the way to Ruined Castle, on the other side of Jamison Valley.

The track follows the base of the cliffs from Leura to Ruined Castle, passing forests, waterfalls and the iconic Three Sisters. 

We will start our hike with a challenging descent from Carrington Park Leura to the valley floor. Marvel at the scenic views of the dramatic cliff line. You’ll pass through dense forests and cool clear waterfalls, with some great picnic spots along the way.

If you’re after a real heart-pumping finish, take the Giant Stairway, Furber Steps or Golden Stairs  back to the top, or cut it short and enjoy an exhilarating train ride to the top, hopping off at Katoomba. From there we can either car shuffle back to Leura of walk back along the Price Henry Cliff Walk. 

Often regarded as the most impressive walking trail in the Blue Mountains, at just over 6km long, the Grand Canyon Walk is a true bushwalking adventure. Wonderful views, vibrant rainforest, pretty waterfalls, creek crossings, impressive sandstone walls and massive rock overhangs, this walking track has something for everyone.

While it has some very steep sections, the track can be conquered by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, as long as you bring enough water with you. The cooler temperatures in the valley make this walk a pleasant adventure during warm summer months too. 

The track has undergone several upgrades over the years and is considered to be safe with a well marked path and lots of useful railings where necessary. A set of hiking poles can still be very useful during this track though, especially for the steeper parts.

Take in the serenity of Blue Mountains National Park on Lockleys Pylon walking track. Named after J.G. Lockley, a journalist who supported conservation efforts to save the Blue Gum Forest from logging in the 1930s. 

With some of the best views in Blue Mountains, this walk traverses through the heath to a small peak overlooking eucalypt forests of the Grose Valley. Climb up to Lockleys Pylon and take in the Golden sandstone cliffs of Mount Hay and Mount Banks.

Spring is great for photograph opportunities, as you’ll walk through a sea of wildflowers, including red lambertias and even the pink flannel flower if wildfires have passed through. There’s also excellent birdwatching and lots of wildlife to see. Remember to take your binoculars if you want to go birdwatching.
