About this trip

We chose this trail and running weekend for people who like a bit of history to chew over. Yes we’ll be including this as part of the weekend too. And we’ve added our popular morning yoga for runners session. It now includes a talk by a guest speaker (our last speakers included Wild Woman of the Wye Angela Jones and fast packer/author Lily Dyu) and an optional post-run dip in Keeper's Pond, followed by a sauna in the mobile sauna.

This is an ideal weekend for anyone who wants to get to know Brecon Beacon National Park and the Black Mountains a bit better, someone who is training for a longer effort, perhaps an off road marathon, a mountain marathon, multi day event or an ultra and wants to get some back-to-back runs in. Pace is not important. All abilities are welcome, as long as you are capable of running 10 miles off road.

The Dinas Castle bunkhouse is situated in a lovely valley that is over 1000ft above sea level, right in the rural heart of the Black Mountains, which make up the Eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Spectacular views of the surrounding hills that can be seen from almost every window. Located below the ruins of Castell Dinas, the highest ruin castle in England and Wales. Conveniently located for some of the areas finest trails, Wirth access to the Wye valley, the Sugar Loaf and Crickhowell, as well as Hay on Wye.

Price: £310 to stay in the bunkhouse, or we can fix you up in the adjoining B&B upon request, if there’s room.Camping is also available in the adjoining field. Evening meals will be at the Dinas Castle Inn or in Talgarth.

Running was just an excuse to be there, for me this camp was about meeting like minded people to interact with and have fun, carefully curated by an experienced running guru with his own tales to tell.

A great weekend away with a fab group of people. A good physical workout, and an ideal way to unwind mentally from the rat race. I will definitely come to another one in the future.

I attended the Wales yoga and running weekend in November. Relaxed, inclusive of all abilities and restorative. Ceri fostered a friendly atmosphere which brought the group together. Some beautiful and challenging runs with Ceri, and we were also accompanied by knowledgeable local guides. I look forward to the next one.

I had such a brilliant time on this running camp. It was a lovely group of non judgemental, interesting people with a shared passion for running. The fells were absolutely stunning. Ceri was a fab leader who lined up everything for us. We had delicious dinners both nights- including a much needed Indian after the 18k. We were also joined by Brett and Liz who had a lovely energy and were very inspiring. Altogether, thoroughly recommend and I will be joining Ceri again.

Recently took part in wilid runnings trail weekend with my partner near Brecon. A great weekend with some great people . The sceanery was stunning and Ceri was always on hand to offer advice , Also so was Liz . The trip is for all abilities, however it's in the black mountains / Brecon beacons so there is no hiding from the elevation. Do not let that put you off though ,no one is left behind no matter if you run wallk or crawl to the top . It's a relaxed environment and no pressure . Well done ceri and Liz we both had a great weekend thanks .

Over the past few years I have attended several Wild Running camps on Dartmoor and in the Brecon Beacons. They have all been filled with great running and yoga, fabulous scenery, delicious food and interesting company. Ceri creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is brilliant at accommodating all levels of running ability. He has many interesting insights into all aspects of running and links with the worlds of literature and journalism. Ceri is the only person I know who has written a poem about one of their events! He also a genuine interest and awareness of issues going beyond running, especially inclusivity, diversity and environmental responsibility. Probably because of this his camps tend to attract other interesting and thoughtful people and create memorable conversations and lasting friendships. I look forward to being back on another Wild Running camp very soon.
