About this trip

Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard

September 6-9, 2022

The Atlantic crashes on a coastline strewn with quaint harbors, windswept beaches, glorious dunes and blinking lighthouses. Explore Cape Cod on this fabulous 4 day tour.  Upon arrival check in to your hotel before enjoying your first New England dinner.  Day 2,Your LOCAL GUIDE will meet you at your hotel and will escort you to the HY-LINE DOCKS for ticketing and boarding of the ferry to the island of MARTHA’S VINEYARD. Upon arrival you will board a local bus for a SIGHTSEEING TOUR. You will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through Vineyard Haven. There will be free time for lunch and shopping in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs. You may choose to stroll through “Cottage City” with its brightly painted cottages and decorative “gingerbread” trim. Your guide will give you an overview tour of Hyannis and see JFK MEMORIAL before dinner. Day 3, Your LOCAL GUIDE will meet you at your hotel for a full day of touring. You will travel historic ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. View a Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE VISITOR’S CENTER. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – PROVINCETOWN. You are now at the extreme tip of Cape Cod. Formerly known as the “Province Lands” the pilgrims landed here first before they decided to settle across the Bay in Plymouth. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique. This afternoon you may choose to board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of WHALE WATCHING (3 hours). You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these shallow waters to feed. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses. OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO STAY ON DRY LAND: For anyone not wishing to go on a whale watch you can enjoy a one-hour DUNE TOUR. Ride along the shoreline of the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Your guide will point out the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art.You will enjoy a traditional New England Lobster dinner before you return to the hotel. (other meal options available)

Day 4 a stop will be made on the way home at Mystic Seaport, CT for lunch on your own and exploring.

It was a lovely show. Other th a n that it was a nightmare. Bus was late at Westerly, which put us in NYC 5 minutes before the show started. Christmas tree lighting that night so could not go anywhere. Streets blocked off, stores closed.

Joy To The World on Dec11, 2024 in Lancaster, PA. A perfect day trip! Lunch at the Amish home was delicious. The show was superb. We had a great time. Very well managed by Vikky.

In May, I traveled with GS Getaways to Brooklyn, Philadelphia twice and a multi-day tour to Long Island. Each experience was unique, interesting and well run. The excellent step-on guides and docents greatly enhanced the knowledge and appreciation of the sites, and the special meals or restaurants were carefully chosen. It was also fun getting to know so many fellow travelers and reconnecting with a few from previous trips. Thank you, Faith and company! Lois D.
