Rey Diving is heading to Cartagena on January 2022 to escape the chilly winter and warm up with some scuba diving in the crystal blue waters of “Rosario Islands” -an overlooked gem of the Caribbean. Our package includes diving, air fare, lodging and beautiful sunsets!
Cartagena offers a real paradisiac environment! It is nearly surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, and small, coral stone protected beaches can be found only a few meters outside of the ancient Walled City.
There are more than 28 dive sites. They stand out for their huge diversity of hard and soft corals, sponges and reef inhabitants. You can also get in touch with other regional ecosystems such as internal lagoons, mangroves and marine grasses.
Cartagena/Islas del Rosario is the perfect combination for a scuba trip. While Rosario Islands provides a beautiful location for scuba diving where we will find various species of sponges, soft and hard corals, and numerous fish, such as blue angel fish, blue tang, snappers, and cow fish, among others, Cartagena provides with the atmosphere of a colonial city. Founded in 1533 by the Spanish Conquistadors, Cartagena is now a city of rich culture, beautiful architecture to admire while on a stroll, various entertainment spots, nightlife, and exquisite food to enjoy.

Day 1: We normally meet you at the airport (CTG) upon your arrival in Cartagena, and from there we will show you the way to the hotel in Downton Cartagena. Once settled in the hotel you will have some time to relax and get ready to meet our scuba host, Andrés, who runs a successful scuba operation in Cartagena to make sure we have all equipment needed. By then it will be about dinner time, and we can head to one of the many great restaurants in town.
Day 2: Fast boat departs from the downtown marina to Islas del Rosario at 8:00 am. You should have packed all your scuba equipment, and what you will need for the next 3 days in the islands. If you don’t want to pack it all, it is possible to leave somethings at the dive shop in Cartagena that you might not need in Rosario Islands. Arrival to the island is at about 9:00 am, we will settle in the hotel, and get ready for our first dive. Students taking the open water certification will work on the confined water skills. Advanced open water students can start with the advanced dives in the program.
We will be back before 3:00 pm and ready for lunch and relax on the island for the rest of the day.
Day 3: Dive boat leaves after breakfast at about 9:00 am, we’ll complete open water dives 1 & 2 for the open water diver program. Advanced divers will continue with the advanced program.
Day 4: Dive boat leaves after breakfast at about 9:00 am. Students in the open water diver program will complete dives 3 & 4 and get your certification. Certified divers will make 2 more recreational dives, advanced students will continue the advanced diver course. Schedule and logistics permitting, advanced divers will make three dives on this day.
Day 5: On this day we will take a tour in the amazing colonial city of Cartagena. Cartagena was founded in 1533, and its strategic location made it a main port for trade between Spain and its overseas empire. Cartagena is known as "The Walled City" this is because downtown Cartagena is surrounded by 11 kilometers of defensive walls which were built during the colonial era. Inside the wall is the historic center where we find beautiful churches, buildings of the era, and exquisite restaurants, all worth the stroll on this final day of the trip.
Day 6: This is the day of departure :-(
