Chacaltaya
It is the highest ski resort in the world with over 5,300 m high. It is a great tourist destination for skiing enthusiasts. It is notable for being the highest and closest ski resort to the line of Ecuador. It's too cold and the snow is scarce in winter, and runs only on weekends from November to February (summer). In recent years, is losing snow dramatically because of global warming.
In the morning, we'll pick you up from your hotel in downtown La Paz or meeting point before setting off for Mount Chacaltaya.
Once there, we will take a short 650-foot hike up to the summit. At the top, you will enjoy one of the best panoramic views in all of Bolivia, where snow-capped peaks contrast with the typical Bolivian brown landscapes. After capturing this unforgettable scene on camera, we will descend from Chacaltaya and head the famous (Valle de la Luna) Valley of the Moon.
When we arrive, we will explore this idyllic area on foot. Our walk here will be gentle as the altitude is low compared to other locations in Bolivia.
Our trip to Mount Chacaltaya and Valle de la Luna finishes by returning to La Paz in midafternoon, leaving you near Plaza San Francisco.
