About this trip

Ready for a one-of-a-kind experience in Italy? Like our previous retreats, our 2025 retreat will combine daily movement classes, delicious eating adventures, and wine appreciation in a beautiful and unique corner of Italy. To celebrate our 10th retreat, we're returning to a remote artist's retreat nestled between the Ligurian Sea and the Tuscan mountains.

Our journey begins in Milan at the garden and restaurant of my trusted retreat partners, Alice and Danilo. The 5-course welcome dinner starts what just may be the best week of eating of your entire life.

We then travel out to our retreat home: a secluded hamlet overlooking the valley of Camaiore. Our private escape is dotted with renovated stone houses, each with one or two guest rooms, a shared living space, and a relaxing terrace.

Our mornings start with yoga—the anchor of our retreat. Over the week, we’ll remove the crusty layers of stress, unlock chronic hip tension, and reset habitual slouches. With more energized postures and open senses, we will emerge ready to take in the full Italian experience.

After yoga, we’ll gather around the breakfast table for fresh fruit, homemade granola, yogurt, and rustic bread. European breakfasts always feel both decadent and wholesome. As we sip coffee, we’ll review our plan for the day.

Some days we venture out for a hike led by a local guide, visit the sandy beaches in nearby resort towns, or walk to the next village to find the renowned pasticceria. Other days we stay back for Alice’s cooking classes. We roll up our sleeves to prepare the pasta for lunch or learn how to make the local hazelnut pastry.

After some afternoon downtime, we  reconvene for a restorative yoga class. All activities are, of course, optional. You may prefer to spend a lazy afternoon lounging at the pool, exploring the art collection, or taking a nap under a novel.

As the sun dips toward the sea, we gather on the terrace for antipasti and wine tasting. Danilo uncorks bottles of Chianti, Sangiovese, and Prosecco, offers his signature tasting notes, explains the viniculture traditions, and leads our wine education.

Sounds amazing, right? We haven’t even gotten to the best part: Alice’s food! With classic Italian preparations and plant-focused creativity, she tailors the menu for omnivores yet is sensitive to food restrictions. She forages local ingredients like forest herbs and mushrooms to create dishes that are filled with flavor, but are rarely heavy. Expanding our palates further, Danilo pairs each meal with wines from his vast cellar.

The  secret ingredient for every retreat is…you! The folks that come on these retreats are eager to get beyond the tourist crowds and enjoy food as much as playing with awkward yoga poses.  If you are up for a bucket-list trip without any of the tedious planning, this trip is for you.

Note: These trips often sell out immediately, so get yourself on the wait list today. A discount code and registration link will be sent to folks on the waitlist at the beginning of October 2024.

Wonderful location, food and people. I am not used to drinking alcohol and eating dessert every night but I would do it all over again as a once in a year treat. Definitely appreciated the oven cooked pork(?), making tagliatelle and the hiking. The steep hike really surprised me at first but now that I look back I'm really glad it was in the itinerary. I would look forward to it or a similar adventure next time.

This trip was nothing short of AMAZING!! Yogi Sadie is a skilled, empathetic and humorous yoga instructor but that was only a one aspect of what made this trip special. The exquisite farm to table meals, the impeccable wine pairings, the history-filled venue and the flawless blend of structured and unstructured activities created a perfect environment for new friendships to be forged and existing relationships to be strengthened. It was magical!

This was my third retreat with Sadie, Alice, and Danilo, and it was even more awesome than the previous two (which were also awesome). Following tradition, the retreat kicked off with a dinner at Erba Brusca, Alice and Danilo’s farm-to-table restaurant. The meal was incredibly delicious. It was also a time to connect with my fellow travelers. The next day, we headed down to Peralta, our home for the week. Dripping with sculpture from the artist Fiore who created Peralta in the 1960s. Each cottage was unique and special. We settled in to a routine….yoga from Sadie twice a day, meals by Alice and her sidekick Harriet, and wine served with just the right amount of knowledge imparted to us by Danilo. All were excellent. I came for the yoga, and it was wonderful to have in-person yoga with Sadie again. Outings included a hike to an organic farm with a lovely lunch, olive oil and wine tasting in town, and a visit to the marble museum. The weather was rainy, so we mostly nestled in to Peralta with cooking classes from Alice and Harriet and a tarot card session with Sadie. My fellow travelers were a fun and easy going, which was great. I can’t say enough good things about this retreat. Sadie, Alice, and Danilo bring such care, enthusiasm, and intelligence to planning the trip that you know you are in good hands. Thank you!

Once again, Sadie and team hosted a wonderful week of expansive and grounding yoga, amazing food/wine, lots of laughter, and time for exploring and chilling by the Ligurian sea. Sadie has been an inspiration and resource for me for many years now. Her approach to yoga and health is accessible and challenging. I'm looking forward to continuing my yoga practice, and hopefully many future yoga retreats, with Sadie.
