About this trip

The 2022 Holiday trip features two of the Holiday Season's star attractions in Asheville plus an extra day to learn about the city's rich history, music and arts as well as explore on your own.

The first experience is a day immersing yourself into the time honored tradition of Christmas at Biltmore.   No other residence in America offers a more authentic, original, and inspiring view of life during the Guided Age at Christmas than the Biltmore House.  George Vanderbilt first welcomed guests to Biltmore Estate on Christmas Eve in 1895 and today his legacy and love of entertaining are shared with you in a self-guided audio tour hosted by Estate Curators.    During the day, there will also be time to visit the Conservatory bedecked with hundreds of blooming poinsettias and Antler Hill Village & Winery.

Later in the day, we enjoy a visit to one of the most iconic Historic Hotels of American, The Omni Grove Park Inn, for dinner and the 30th National Gingerbread House Competition.  Following dinner, a stroll through the hotel celebrates the design, innovation and tradition of this amazing competition.  Each year contestants travel from 30 states and Canada and spend more than 500 hours constructing their entries.  Last year the 2nd placed winner was from Cary, NC!

Day three starts with a narrated Trolley tour and then offers time for exploration on your own.  Be sure to get all the details by scrolling down to the itinerary.

The trip includes all admissions, breakfast and dinner each day.  Read more about the inclusions below:

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

Great trip! Lovely little city. Winery & museum were highlights. Progressive dinner was a big disappointment: the appetizer was really just chips & dip, the pork chop was cold. Would be best to have substantial but smaller portions for each meal, as we had on the Charleston trip (fabulous food). I know the dates chosen were the only available , but for future trips, avoiding Mondays would be best (more museums open). The trip was just the right amount of time. Looking forward to returning in February for Hamilton!

Trips by Patty are always well planned with excellent activities. This trip was just that! Patty and Kathy did a great job of taking care of each of the participants. The tour of the city was very informative, the city is lovely with lots of pretty parks and shops. Don't miss a chance to travel with Patty.

Great trip. Greenville is a beautiful city, and if it wouldn't be for Patty, I don't know when I would have discovered it. Everything was organized perfectly, the motor coach very comfortable, the city tour very informative and interesting. The extra nice bonus was that our hotel had a full kitchen, which makes it so convenient if someone wants to prepare a little something instead of eating out all the time. Patty and her assistant Kathy took such good care of us! I would recommend Tours by Patty wholeheartedly.
