Sedona Alvarez is a yoga teacher and artist with a passion for empowering others to Live Artfully. A story teller, traveler, nature lover and lifelong student, Sedona views life as an ever evolving art project.
After earning a BFA in Design from the University of Kansas in 2012, Sedona went searching for more knowledge and found yoga in the process. Yoga became instrumental in helping Sedona cope with anxiety, depression and addiction. Upon earning a 200 hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification in 2013 through LifePower Yoga, Sedona became immersed in teaching and has been cultivating a community in Kansas City ever since. Sedona’s latest adventures include assisting the Karma Tribe Yoga 200 hr YTT (Yoga Teacher Training), leading local Yoga + Hiking excursions, curating art shows, and cooking up retreats. Sedona’s approach is steeped in love and founded in the belief that everybody deserves to benefit from the practices of yoga.
Sedona says, “My mission is to guide others through the fires of transformation with loving kindness. I aim to inspire others to use the creative outlets of art + yoga to extract ample meaning and joy from life. You will never come to my class to be instructed on how to be ‘better’. You will learn how to be real with yourself. There is no perfect, and that’s perfect. I simply encourage you to be yourself. Come as you are and move from there, I promise there is a space for you.”
Costa Rica is one of the world's most biodiverse countries, with half a million species – from insects to the giant anteaters that devour them – it also protects one-quarter of its wild lands through law.
A recent study showed that many Costa Ricans live longer, healthier lives than people on the rest of the planet, and it all comes down to pura vida (pure life), a term you'll hear everywhere. It means hello, goodbye, everything's cool, same to you. You may enter the country not believing it, but after a week you'll be saying it, too, unconsciously: pura vida, mae.
We will journey 4 hours to our retreat centre in the beautiful village of Cahuita on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. The harmony of Costa Rica's lush rainforest and the Caribbean sea will provide the perfect setting for your yoga practice, exploration and fun.
