I came here more to observe animals and birds, as well as to take good shots with my camera. I saw everyone I wanted, except the frigate.

It was a well-planned climb, the guide worked to the end, although the weather on the day of the climb was windy and we were covered with a crust of ice. Many people were unable to get up. For me this climb was the most difficult compared to Chimborazo and Cotopaxi.

The whole tour was very well organized, transfers, meals, experienced guides on the climb. The only point that I would probably improve is the provision of at least two mattresses in the Chimborazo tent camp, since they are very thin and not suitable for spending the night in the snow at an altitude of 5000 meters. I had to sleep on my backpack to avoid catching a cold.

When we first booked this trip, Willy was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. We booked last minute and he really helped us feel prepared up to the day of departure from Quito. However, once the day came, the communication and overall experience got worse. When we arrived at the pick up location, someone who didn’t speak English asked us about the gear we needed. He did not ask us if we had a sleeping bag and on the summit night, we had nothing and it was freezing at base camp. We also were not communicated with about transportation and rode to the national park with other people and shared a room with them at the lodge without any knowledge. When Willy arrived the next day, it was 4pm and we had not heard from him all day. (The itinerary said we would be picked up “after lunch”) because it was so late, we were rushed to eat and go to sleep at base camp when we arrived there around 5pm. The worst part was, we were given a guide who did not speak English. This made us feel unsafe and severely affected the energy during the summit. Our guide, Jose, was not encouraging, rushed us and was unable to answer our questions about safety or understand how we were feeling in regards to altitude sickness. We had to turn around before the summit and he rushed us down, went ahead of us at the end, and left us for the last km. It was extremely frustrating. Also, water was not free at base camp as stated in the itinerary. Only “hot water” not bottled. But the hot water was put away after dinner and there wasn’t enough to fill bottles before the summit. This was another small, but impactful frustration. Overall, I think this company needs to improve their communication, itinerary details, and confirm the language of the guides with the guest. This is an extremely dangerous summit and these issues could have caused major safety risks. I also believe it was part of the reason we did not reach the summit. I hope things improve for future clients!

Thank you for your review. We did our best to accommodate your last-minute booking. Our team includes English-speaking guides, but as we mentioned, we need sufficient time to coordinate and confirm their availability. Ecuador is a Spanish-speaking country with little English influence, so we always recommend booking in advance to ensure the availability of bilingual guides. All services were provided as outlined in the itinerary, and we appreciate your understanding.

Looking for a fabulous experience in the Galapagos with great tours and organization. Days were extremely well planned and always super punctual. The guides were knowledgeable often sharing their love of the islands and passion to protect them. Definitely take the Quito extension as it makes for an easy stay in the historic part of Quito with easy transitions to and from the airport. We were a group of seven and everyone loved the trip. We had a couple small things come up and the owner attended to them extremely quickly and without hesitation. We are already thinking about a trip back to Quito and surrounding areas and will use Eco Adventure for our planning!
