About this trip

Have you ever wanted to experience the true cultural offerings of Cuba? Now you can during our uniquely designed retreat week in collaboration with the Mhai Yoga Cuban Yoga Association of Cuba! Approved by the Support of the Cuban people, this yoga-retreat offers you private activities and accommodations intended to support local Cuban communities and family owned restaurants, home-stays and an immersion with the Cuban Yoga community!

Join Lotus Retreats for 8-days and 7-nights of exploration through yoga, immersion with the Cuban Yoga community, cultural trips to Havana and Vinales and an unforgettable heart-opening experience to connect with Cuba, the people, and a simplified way of life.

Retreat to Cuba’s first Yoga retreat center on the beaches just outside of Havana. Retreat yourself in the warm Cuban sun in a peaceful, secluded atmosphere perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our retreat center is located only 15 minutes outside of Havana, affording you the opportunity to explore the city during the day or night, soak up the private-beach sun during the day, salsa throughout the night, and always have a peaceful space to come back to.

You'll be given the opportunity to participate in several cultural offerings but also the time to sit back and relax, completely designing the retreat week you desire.

This Cuba Retreat week provides an authentic experience to connect with the true island lifestyle. The island culture, organic food movement and white-sand beaches are a few reasons you may never want to leave Cuba, but what will end up capturing your heart is the people.

The lesson to take from Cuba, is that of happiness with the present moment. You will see, even though they don’t have much, the Cuban people are always laughing, dancing, making the most of every situation, and hopefully after a week retreat to Cuba, you will too!

Yoga & Workshops

We will gather on the Yoga shala twice a day to practice Yoga, meditation and connection to Self, spirit. Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin classes tailored to all levels will be offered by our team of Lotus Retreats teachers.

In collaboration with the Cuban Yoga community, we will share a few classes with Eduardo Pimentel, the father of Yoga in Cuba, to learn about the history of Yoga in Cuba and have the opportunity to practice Yoga with Eduardo and his students.

This Yoga retreat and practice extends far off the mat! Our mission of practicing poses, breath and mindfulness on the mat, is to take this awareness and spread it beyond just the yoga shala. Daily intentions, mantras and offerings will be encouraged to support your Yoga practice on & off the mat.

Excursions

Exploring the culture and different cities & towns of Cuba will be a huge part of this retreat week! Each day will be paired with an activity or excursion to experience authentic Cuba and it’s offerings. Learn to Salsa dance with a professional Cuban dance team included in the first days of the retreat! We will discover the city of Havana, what it is and the history of what it was, riding around in vintage convertibles to see it all. You’ll have the chance to explore the city, shop and admire its rich cultural taste with a group outing for lunch at the Paladar. Of course it wouldn’t be a trip to Havana without a sunset visit to the Malecon, which walls the entire city of Havana overlooking the ocean.

This retreat also includes an overnight trip to Vinales, which are the organic farmlands of Cuba, to get a true taste of Cuba’s organic food movement! We’ll horseback ride through the farms, connect with local farmers and roll our own Cuban cigars! We'll practice yoga on the mountain top overlooking all of Vinales for sunrise. In Vinales, you’ll have your own bed, breakfast, dinner with a Cuban family and we’ll practice evening & morning Yoga.

Nourishment

Nourish your soul with local handcrafted meals lovingly prepared by a team of friendly, family staff. Mealtimes are a huge part of our retreat experience and Cuba offers all organic, hand prepared and nourishing meals for us to enjoy. Each meal is prepared with local foods that the staff purchases within the same day. The kitchen staff is so loving and caring during mealtimes that they’re always present and preparing special dishes for our groups.

All meals are organic with pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Disconnect to Reconnect

Disconnect with a digital detox. There will be no Wifi at the beach resort but there will be plenty of yoga, workshops, community talks and activities for you to connect with yourself and others!

"Wifi cards" for $1 an hour can be purchased and used if Wifi is needed throughout the week.

Getting There

Travel to and from Cuba has become much easier!

Several airlines like United, Delta, Southwest and JetBlue fly direct to Havana Airport.

For travelers departing from the United States, US airlines now offer the option to buy the Cuban tourist visa on the day of departure at the check-in counter or at the departure gate. Check the confirmation email from your airline to confirm this, as their policies are subject to change. Please allow some extra time at check-in if you plan to buy the Cuban tourist visa on your date of departure.

We will provide each retreat guest with an approved document for visiting Cuba. Your travel is legally authorized as an educational people-to-people tour in "support of the Cuban people" and partners with only private companies, nothing government ran.

Once you arrive in Cuba, we will have organized transportation to pick you up and take you directly to the retreat center!

We will also create a Facebook group and shared google document for all attending guests to arrange transportation to the resort prior to the retreat start.

No vaccinations are required to enter Cuba.

Detailed travel instructions and guidance will be included in your confirmation emails after booking!

Sedona Soul of the Earth Women's Retreat, October 2024 I had the privilege of attending the Sedona Soul of the Earth Women's Retreat in October 2024, not as a guest, but as the main chef's assistant in the kitchen. Despite my role being behind the scenes, the experience was nothing short of transformational and heart-activating. The retreat was in the breathtaking landscapes of Sedona, which provided a serene and spiritual backdrop for container. From the moment I arrived, I was held by the amazing energy brought by both the facilitators and the guests. The atmosphere was charged with positivity, openness, and a genuine desire for connection. Over the course of just four days, I felt a profound bond forming with the 16 incredible women attending the retreat. We held space for one another to be fully ourselves, without judgment or hesitation, fostering deep and meaningful connections that I believe will last a lifetime. Loren, the organizer, did a beautiful job ensuring everyone was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire time. Her attention to detail and genuine care for each participant was evident in every aspect of the retreat. The Elemental Weavers, who facilitated many of the sessions, were strong and inspiring leaders. They guided us through various activities that were both grounding and elevating, helping us to connect more deeply with ourselves and the natural world around us. Even though my primary role was in the kitchen, assisting in preparing nourishing meals for the group, I felt fully included in the retreat's activities and the sense of community that was cultivated. The shared meals became a time of joy and connection, where stories were exchanged, laughter was abundant, and hearts were opened. The transformational power of this retreat extended beyond the scheduled sessions. The informal moments—sunrise meditations, walks amidst the red rocks, and evenings under the starlit sky—were filled with introspection. Witnessing and being part of such authentic interactions was truly heartwarming. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Sedona Soul of the Earth Women's Retreat. It was an unforgettable experience that touched my heart and soul in ways I couldn't have imagined. I walked away not only with new friendships but also with a renewed sense of self and a deeper appreciation for the power of community and shared experiences. I highly recommend this retreat to any woman seeking personal growth, connection, and a transformative journey in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Loren is such an inspiration! I found the course very insightful. She shares great tools in which to work towards hosting your own retreat. Really happy I was introduced to her and will continue to work towards my vision. Thank you Loren <3

I am so grateful for Loren sharing her years of knowledge & experience with us in this wonderful online course. Her honest guidance & inspirational feedback has been so helpful along this journey. From templates, checklists, open-ended Q&A time, prompts for self reflection & gentle deadlines to encourage motivation, this training has you covered! I have now successfully hosted my own content creation retreat for photographers & creatives, since taking this course. & I am still finalizing plans on a future yoga retreat as well. Loren follows through with this course with support, encouragement, & guidance even long after the zoom calls end. This offering has definitely helped me to gain the confidence & knowledge needed to finally take the leap to sharing my own retreats. It was also great to meet other like-minded folks, who were all able to come together, brainstorm, & share ideas with one another.

I would highly recommend this training!! Loren is such a great space and wisdom holder for questions, insights, and anything that may come up around leading, planning, and coordinating a successful retreat. This training is perfect for you if you're wanting to gain deeper insight into what it looks like to host a retreat, how to plan and market a successful retreat, and are also wanting to connect with other like-minded individuals as well. Loren shares tips and what she has learned from her own experience leading retreats all around the world I found very helpful and valuable. Taking this training not only helped me to feel more confident in my abilities to plan, host, and lead retreats but I also got the opportunity to connect with others that are interested in doing similar things. Having this community felt very grounding for me and helped me to take the next step and get out of my comfort zone when it comes to my dream of hosting and leading retreats. Thank you Loren!

First and foremost, apologies for this super overdue review. I just realized that I haven't left a review for Loren Lotus, but periodically I have thought about this magical retreat I went on with Loren in 2018 to Colombia. Loren was very communicative about all the trip details beforehand, and planned very special programs; a small trip to the neighboring village with a local guide, interesting workshops with great guest teachers, etc. although she is an amazing instructor! The retreat venue was magical and was very accommodating about everyone's dietary restrictions. I spent possibly the best week of my life, and I am forever grateful for that experience. Highly recommend it if you are looking for something to nourish your mind, body, and heart. Thank you Loren. I hope you are doing well! Sending love.

I had an amazing experience in Colombia with Lotus Retreats in July 2023. Loren and Rachel are fantastic women who lead with love and light. They show so much care and respect towards each person's experience and offer each guest the opportunity to make their trip as busy or relaxed as they wish it to be. I highly recommend the excursions, as I got to experience more of Colombia and the history of its culture; however, they are optional, which is great on days when a guest would prefer some time spent in reflection. The daily yoga offerings were my favorite part, as they brought different styles of yoga, pranayama techniques, and sound healing into class. And finally, the freshly prepared, locally-sourced meals were INCREDIBLE. My body is still thanking me!
