      Itinerary

      Day Trip to Ouzoud
      North Africa's Highest Waterfalls

      Approximate Drive Time: 2.5 hours

Your day starts in Marrakech. Your Open Doors Morocco driver will pick you up at your riad.

Ouzoud Falls is located about 150 kilometers from the Marrakech city center. Your host will pick you up at the riad after breakfast. You'll drive through the Moroccan countryside. Along the way, you'll pass through charming villages, olive groves, and the Atlas Mountains.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the stunning cascading waterfalls. These falls are the highest in Morocco, with a height of approximately 360 feet.

Begin your exploration of the falls by descending to the bottom of the falls. The marked trail will lead you through a series of viewpoints allowing you to get closer to the falls.

You may catch a glimpse of the Barbary Apes as Ouzoud is known for its population of them. They are playful and friendly, but be sure to maintain a distance and avoid feeding them.

There are several restaurants and cafes nearby where you can have lunch with a view.

You'll head back to Marrakech later in the day.

We had a fantastic trip and it went without a hitch from planning to execution. It was so wonderful to work with Nancy to craft our dream trip and she was so patient and prompt in answering all our questions. Nancy gave us great confidence that we were in good hands and we were indeed with Abdul, our host. Abdul exceeded our expectations, as more than just an awesome driver and cultural ambassador. We enjoyed sharing many of our adventures with Abdul and really appreciated his special efforts to share Morocco with us. Without reservation we will recommend Open Doors to all our friends. Our only regret was not staying longer—and I’m sure we will come back one day.

This trip exceeded our expectations. It was a truly memorable visit, combining the usually visited places with unique, lesser traveled spots. It mixed fun and education - a wonderful cultural experience. Our guides were super - Kudos to Lahbib, Said and Ibrahim for their knowledge. resourcefulness and sense of humor. Among the highlights for us were the camel ride, a chance encounter with a Bedouin family, visiting medrasas and fascinating Kasbahs, Moulay Idris's panoramic beauty. The accommodations were fantastic - particularly the lovely Bab Oued Ecolodge. Overall this was a very well organized and thought out itinerary. Morocco is a fascinating country and this trip truly helped us realize that. We hope to see more of it in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed our Pockets of Light trip to Morocco. There was a great combination of opportunities to learn about the culture, history, food and so many different locations. I loved being able to meet locals, to visit historic sites while also watching skilled crafts people at work, and to see a variety of locations and countrysides. Because there was a focus on photography it was important to have guides and drivers who were flexible and patient and able to accomodate our group's needs . Abdul and Mohammed were amazing! The Riads we stayed at were so much fun and overall the food was delicious. The size of our group was a definite bonus. Really apprecated the planning and expertise that went into creating our itinerary.
