This trip is designed for Black professionals and creatives of any gender. Our travelers are typically 25-40, but you must be 21+ to join us.
It's been over 400 years since our ancestors were stolen from the shores of West Africa and brought to the Americas against their will. We're returning to our ancestral home to connect with our roots and turn up in the motherland.
There's no better place to ring in the new year!
*This is a sample itinerary that is subject to change
We've been curating trips to Ghana since 2019 and are well-connected in Accra and beyond. From the best places to grab brunch (rooftop mimosas, anyone?) to hidden waterfalls, we're locked in with the locals.
When not hosting group trips, we curate events and host meet-ups for Black travelers worldwide.

Terms and Conditions - Please read the below and this T&C's page before booking.
By booking this trip, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
Terms and Conditions:
*Accommodations are based on single occupancy. Rooms will feature one large bed. However, travelers who book together can request a shared room. Shared room choices cannot be changed after booking and do not come at a discounted rate.
*Flights are not included. However, we can help you find the best flight options when you purchase the 'flight tracker' add-on. Please plan to arrive in Accra by 4 PM on December 27, 2025.
* On Buoyant trips, acts of nature, or other unforeseen interruptions, please remember that the itinerary schedule may change, but we will always find suitable replacements.
* Travel insurance is NOT included, but you must participate in this trip. By booking this trip, you agree that Buoyant is not responsible for any injuries, lost or stolen property, canceled or missed flights, or death. You agree not to sue or hold Buoyant accountable for anything previously mentioned.
* Buoyant will not provide refunds or trip credits if you opt out of any scheduled itinerary activities.
* You must be willing to provide us with a copy of the following by the requested deadline of December 1, 2025: a yellow fever card, a valid passport, a valid Ghana visa, and emergency contact information.
* The trip activities, tours, and accommodations advertised by Buoyant are pre-planned and advertised as intended. Occasionally, we may need to make changes and reserve the right to do so at any time. We will notify travelers of any changes.
* Ghana is not a Western country. They have a stable infrastructure and booming tourism industry, but things will operate differently than in a country like the US or UK. Please be flexible and open-minded in the case of delays or changes.
* We will cross-check everything to ensure the smoothest trip possible. However, there are potential hiccups (local traffic, delayed customer service, tardy events, etc.). If you have patience, this trip will be enjoyable, and we would love for you to join us for a different experience.

We recommend coming to Ghana with a working phone. Getting around the city will be more accessible if you have access to a working telephone ( i.e., no Uber or Bolt).
Please contact your cell phone service provider before the trip to purchase an international data plan (T-Mobile is the best US provider for this) or to get your phone unlocked so you can buy a local SIM card when you arrive in Ghana.
Local phone providers in GH:
Vodafone
MTN
Airtel
Afrosim
We offer monthly payment plans! When booking, the WeTravel system will list prearranged expected payment dates for all travelers.
For this trip, payments must be made in equal monthly installments. If you'd like to arrange a custom payment based on your preferred pay dates, please email us after booking at hello@buoyanttravel.com.
We design our trips with a mix of experiences that aren't 100% luxury or budget; we exist for Black travelers, our kinfolk, who enjoy both types of travel. Buoyant kinfolk are like bougie aunties & uncles who still love a good deal.
We're splurging on a unique dining experience but love street food. We adore well-designed spaces, like charming boutique hotels, and are excited to experience authentic, local experiences that help connect us with Black history and culture.
Most of all, we understand that the places we're visiting are layered and nuanced, so we travel knowing we are guests in someone's, and we respect the land and people as such.
Our kinfolk are adventurous, open-minded travelers who deeply value Black history and culture and are independent.
While we always provide a high level of customer service, we allow free time to explore the destination on your own or relax and rejuvenate because we know how important it is for many people to recharge on group trips.
By booking this trip, you agree to our cancellation policy by booking this trip, as described below.
If Buoyant cancels this trip, all registered attendees will receive a full refund of any trip payments made until Buoyant's point of trip cancellation. However, the deposit remains non-refundable as it is an administrative fee for our small team.

Book a private photoshoot with our resident local photographer in Accra, who knows the best angles of the city and yours, too. $50 is the deposit to hold your place. Closer to the trip date, we'll connect you with our photographer to finalize the shoot details.
For one month, we'll help you track flight prices for Rio and send recommendations for our top picks. You are responsible for booking your flight on your own. Buoyant doesn't book flights on behalf of our kinfolk.
Akwaaba (welcome) to Ghana! We will pick you up from Kotoka International Airport and whisk you away to our cozy boutique accommodations in the Osu neighborhood of Accra.
A Buoyant welcome gift will await you, and as you settle into your suite, our team will be setting up for tonight’s welcome dinner. '
At dinner, you will get your first taste of Ghana with authentic local dishes at one of Accra’s well-loved restaurants--this is the perfect time to connect with the other travelers you’ll be exploring with over the next week.
Cheers!
