Shelley Carroll founded Dancing Dogs Yoga in 2010 and has been leading retreats and trainings worldwide ever since.  Enjoy daily yoga, meditation, and yoga nidra classes in the yoga dome.  Set in the middle of the jungle, you'll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of the tropics.


Our yoga classes are designed for ALL levels of practitioners, so no matter where you are on your yoga journey, you will be challenged and inspired.  We start each day with a vinyasa flow practice and meditation, and on non-excursion days, offer a special afternoon practice, like yoga nidra or yin.

Fresh Food to make you drool

All of your meals are included at the Dominican Treehouse Village.  Breakfast includes fresh fruit and juice, local delicacies, and Dominican coffee and cacao.  Enjoy lunch on the beach with fish pulled straight from the ocean, coconut and pineapple drinks, and the best papas fritas and tostones you've ever tasted.  Chef Leo will wow you each night at dinner with a four course meal of appetizers, creative soups, delicious organic dinners.... and there is always dessert.

What should I bring?

Our retreat swag bags are epic, and often have amazing surprises.  You don't need much out here in the jungle, though there are a few must haves:

 

Bring sunscreen, personal toiletries and medications, and shorts and swimsuits. We highly recommend rain jackets, as downpours HAPPEN in the rain forest! 


The weather is warm and humid, but can be breezy at night.  A light hoodie or jacket is often welcome.


This location is truly beautiful, so DO bring a camera.  We recommend leaving very expensive equipment at home unless you are prepared to deal with the humidity!  We do keep a professional photographer on staff, so bring an easy camera.


Pack sneakers!  While it will be tempting to live in flip flops, some of the hiking (Including the zipline) can be muddy and rocky, and you'll appreciate the footwear.


Bring a little cash for incidentals.  Tips, souvenirs ...  you won't need much, but it's nice to have.  Almost everyone takes US dollars.

This is the budget-friendly  way to go!  Each "family dorm" has one queen bed and 4 bunk beds.  There are 2 bedrooms containing one queen in one, and 4 bunks in the other.  The queen bed is shared, bunks are singles.    Bunks on a first come, first served basis.  Package includes all food, accommodations, yoga and meditation offerings, catamaran day trip to Bacardi Island, and the zipline adventure.

Welcome to the Jungle

Arrive before 2PM and you will be shuttled to the treehouse village through lush jungle. When you arrive, you will be welcomed with a fresh juice or cocktail, and introduced to your magical home.


Our welcome dinner includes appetizers, soup, and a main course guaranteed to please.  After dinner, enjoy an Intention setting Cacao ceremony, followed by games, and an opportunity to get to know your fellow spiritual travelers.

This was my THIRD retreat with DDY and it was MAGICAL. The venue was amazing, the excursions were fun and paced out well, there was also plenty of time to relax and do things independently, and it was the most beautiful setting I'd ever done yoga in. I'll remember the friends I made forever and definitely feel like I left a piece of my heart there <3 Also, Shelley is a phenomenal host and is a wealth of knowledge in yoga and international travel- she makes you feel confident and supported for sure.

The trip was very well curated with good balance of activity and leisure. The only thing that was missing was a visit to a goat farm…Maybe next time🤷🏽‍♀️? Amorgos is lovely island, that is only mildly tricky to get to, but serene once you’re there. I highly recommend taking to opportunity to join Shelley on her next Gretian adventure. When you’re there…definitely indulge in some extra Amorgian cheese on the Greek salads.

Where do I begin?! This trip was a trip of a lifetime. The hotel was fabulous. The tours where we did were unforgettable. The Greek people everywhere were so kind and helpful. DDY did a fantastic job setting everything up. And when booking the travel to get there Shelly was right there to help anyone with questions on what to do and where to stay. Numerous people even stayed longer on different islands and Athens and Shelly offered suggestions for where to stay and things to do at other places. I was fortunate enough to complete my YTT at the Dominican Tree House Village in El Valle, Samana. I am so thankful for Shelley and being able to share my yoga story. Shelley is a woman of many virtues but my favorite is her being able to hold space for diverse populations in yoga (BIPOC/LGBTQIA+). I was supported during my learning journey, and encouraged throughout my training to continue to create space for other individuals like myself. Our training was well organized, detail oriented, knowledgeable, and a healthy balance between learning, resting, and adventure! I was paired with the best roommate and suite mates ever! I am terrified of being in the jungle but knowing I was there with three other women, made it so worth while. Finally, Emma made the most amazing Dominican cuisine for us daily and the Tree House Staff were so hospitable. I would absolutely go on another training/retreat with Shelley and the crew!

What an amazing trip! This was my second DDY retreat and I will be back for more! The resort was beautiful, with a yoga Shala that looked out over the ocean and has a jungle backdrop! And on top of that, the food was amazing! The variety of both included and optional activities where amazing, in addition to the twice daily yoga. My personal favs were the sound healing, and the Mayan clay ceremony. The fellow retreaters where also amazing and really made it a trip to remember! Can’t wait for the next retreat!
