The SFSPC Anniversary Mass will be at 10 am. Followed by brunch at 10:45 am. Then the Earth Day Programming will begin at noon and go until 4 pm! Our Earth Day speaker is Charles Pilkey, a former geologist turned author, artist, and illustrator. Pilkey is one of the contributors of the brand-new book Escaping Nature: How to Survive Global Climate Change.
In Escaping Nature, the authors make the argument for the necessity of a new Nature-Centered faith. Technology alone will not be enough to address environmental issues. We need to change ourselves as well - change our perception of the Human/Nature interface. St. Francis' mystical union with Nature is one of several possible ways to connect to the biosphere.
Cost is $25 for the program and includes brunch.
