Join Kacy for a lovely weekend retreat to Star Island! The small Island is part of the Isles of Shoals spanning miles of NH and ME coast and is 7 miles off shore from Rye and Portsmouth harbors. Kacy is not only a yoga teacher but has a deep love and respect for nature in all aspects and have planned this retreat with the ocean in mind. She has chosen Star Island for an eighth year to deepen our connection to nature, Pachamama, bringing awareness to the sea, our surroundings and how we can be of service to help Mother Earth flourish. If you're looking for a local retreat connecting you to nature, the sea and yourself this is for you.
Star Island, the second largest of the group of nine rocky islands lying nearly ten miles southeast of the mouth of the Piscataqua River, is much like living on a boat. On every side one sees and hears the sea. The shores of New England are visible to the west and north, but to the east and south are only sky and sea. The boundary line between Maine and New Hampshire passes through the islands. flora and fauna of the Isles of Shoals, compiled by the staff of the Cornell University Shoals Marine Lab on Appledore, included 256 species of invertebrates, 139 species of algae, 49 species of fish and 145 species of birds.
Life on Star Island is comfortable, but not modern in part due to commitment to conservation of resources. Living quarters in the main hotel have shared bathroom facilities for each floor. Each bed is made with sheets, an acrylic blanket, a wool blanket, a bedspread, and a pillow. Extra blankets and pillows are available upon request. Each room is also supplied with a washcloth, hand towel, bath towel, and small bar of soap for each person. Although all rooms have electricity, not all rooms are equipped with electrical outlets.
