Awesome day trip. Kathy is an excellent guide, so much so that we booked this tour so that we could have her a second day! This is a great itinerary with kids, feeding the hummingbirds was one of my son's top experiences in Ecuador!
My family enjoyed this trip very much. Our informative tour guide, Ismael, made sure our day was very productive and filled with activities. It was a tiring but also a very fun day!
The city tour of Quito city including the Teleferico and Intiñan Equator Museum was excellent. Communication and coordination with Ecuador a Color was easy, and Kathy was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. She gave me the option to skip one church in the old city center and visit Yumbos Chocolate factory instead, which I recommend highly. I will definitely use Ecuador a Color again when I next visit the Quito area.
I highly recommend this company and this tour. I literally had one day in Quito, and less than half a day to see some of the sites that I really wanted to see. I was fortunate to learn of ECUADOR A COLOR, and found the owner, Patricio (Pato) to be very quick and responsive over WhatsApp, and he was able to tailor the private tour to my personal needs. Whereas the whole day private tour usually starts in the old town and basilica, then goes to the teleferico, then finishes at the "Center of the World," I wanted to do the tour in reverse order; because I had a private excursion, Pato was more than happy to accommodate my wishes. He was able to assign me a very knowledgeable guide and driver - Kathy - who not only spoke English well, but she also had a wealth of historical and contextual information that made my visit feel like a deeper cultural immersion than I would have received from a guidebook if I had visited these sites on my own. Ecuador A Color, Pato, and Kathy respected my time, made my logistics easier, and gave me the quick version immersion tour that I wanted. When I am next in Quito, I will be happy to utilize this group's services again.
We had a great day with Kathy Rea horseback riding and hiking! The horse we rode were very well cared for and very domesticated. I can be a little skittish of horses but I never once felt like I was not in control. We saw wild horses, Andean fox, condors and many other beautiful birds. The horse back ride was a relaxing 1 hour and it was slow enough to really take in the beautiful Andean landscape. Then came the hike. We took the “hard” way up. It’s not an overly long hike but it’s a a pretty steep incline and the terrain is mostly gravel. Being “flat landers” the altitude was the hardest part. Kathy was very patient with us. We then had a lovely meal to finish the day!
From messaging about different options to booking through to a pululahua crater hike and then equator line museum it was great experience. A fabulous walk down into the crater (1 mile down) then two hilly hikes and back up to the rim. So glad we had messaged with Patricio before booking as he suggested the perfect trip for us. Lovely lunch provided. Marcial was a great guide plus a sweet dog we named Bobi who walked the whole day with us. Then we went to the equator line museum which was informative and fun. Would totally recommend
