Begin your day with fellow DASH Adventure trekkers for a generous buffet breakfast at our group hotel. Take an optional tour of a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site or shop in the tourist district of Thamel. This afternoon you'll meet with trip leaders for a gear check. End your day with the group for a traditional Nepalese dinner at a local restaurant that's included in your tour price.

Lukla (9,186 ft) to Phakding (8,562 ft)

Fly into the base of the Khumbu Valley, landing at Lukla Airport. Trek downhill to Phakding, experience the hospitality of a Nepalese tea house and start acclimatizing.

Phakding (8,562 ft) to Namche Bazaar (11,220 ft)

Trek along and over the Dudh Koshi River on suspension bridges, through Sagarmatha National Park and up to the largest town in the Khumbu Valley, Namche Bazaar. Here you'll find ATMs, restaurants, bars, bakeries, coffee shops, and lots of souvenir shopping. Forgot an item for your trek?  There are serval gear stores here too...and they take credit cards!

Namche Bazaar (11,220 ft) to Hotel Everest View (12,729 ft) and back

Trekking at higher elevations can lead to altitude sickness and other severe illnesses. Rest/acclimatization days are critical. Begin your day with a hike up to the Hotel Everest View. In good weather, this will be your first view of Mount Everest! Visit Sagarmatha Next, a museum with interactive digital exhibits and upcycled sculptures. End your day with a game or two of pool at the Irish Pub. Rest and recover!

Namche Bazaar (11,220 ft) to Tengboche (12,696 ft)

It's full day of trekking! After breakfast, we return to the Everest Basecamp trail which takes us through the ups and downs of the Khumbu Valley to Tengboche Monastery. Take in stunning views of lush rhododendron forest and observe Lamas perform a prayer ceremony.

Tengboche (12,696 ft) to Dingboche (14,304 ft) 

Another full day of trekking, but we have a nice downhill welcoming us following breakfast! Then a long, slow, but gradual climb up the valley until we get close to Dingboche. We finish with a small hill...but it feels much bigger as we approach 14,000 feet! We'll stay here for two nights to adjust safely to the elevation.

Dingboche (14,304 ft) to partway up Nangkartsang Peak (16,000 ft) and back    

Today we start with a half day hike to continue adjusting to the elevation, followed by lunch and free time. Dingboche has a few stores and coffee shops, including Cafe 4410 where Everest movies are played each afternoon. This is a great time to pull out a deck of cards, enjoy your favorite hot beverage, and relax over some gourmet desserts! We'll stay in Dingboche again tonight.

Lobuche (16,174 ft) to Everest Base Camp 5,364m (17,598 ft) and down to Gorek Shep  5164m (16,864 f)

It's finally here, today we arrive at Everest Base Camp! We'll trek to the highest village in the Khumbu Valley, Gorak Shep, and have lunch. Then it's a few hours on a rough trail leading to the famous Everest Base Camp. In the fall EBC won't have many, if any, climbers as spring is the normal climbing season.  After an hour at EBC, we'll trek back down to Gorak Shep for dinner and lodging.

Pheriche (13,910 ft) to Namche Bazaar (11,220 ft)

Today it's a long one, but mostly (mostly) downhill as we head back to Namche. Every step we are lower, getting more oxygen and feeling stronger. As we arrive in town, some groups like to celebrate at one of the many bars. Think you can beat our Sherpa guide in a game of pool or snooker?

Namche Bazaar (11,220 ft) to Lukla (9,186 ft)

It's our last day of trekking! We drop down from Namche and follow the river, ending our trek with a gradual uphill to Lukla. Today is not very difficult, and there is time to once again celebrate success in the bars of Lukla. We'll stay near the airport and be ready for a morning flight back to Kathmandu tomorrow.

Weather permitting, today we catch a flight to Kathmandu and return to the Hyatt.  Enjoy that hot shower and soft bed!  You've earned it.

Today we'll say our goodbyes, and drop you off at the Kathmandu airport for the flight home. On behalf of Dash Adventures and Expedition Himalaya, we hope you enjoyed Nepal and the Khumbu Valley. More importantly, we all wish to see you again soon!

We recommend you schedule at least one extra day, perhaps two, for your stay in Nepal. Weather frequently causes delays for the flights between Kathmandu and Lukla, and the stress of missing a flight when you are trekking takes away from the experience. If we return on schedule are many sights to see in Kathmandu, and the Hyatt is a fantastic resort hotel. Namaste!
