Summit a 20,000+ foot glaciated peak! This non-technical climb requires crampons, harness, helmet, and jumar (ascender) which you can rent or bring. It’s ok for those without any fixed line or glacier experience.
Lobuche East towers above the village of Lobuche, one of our stops near EBC. For this excursion we’ll sleep in Lobuche the evening we depart from EBC. Up early the next morning, we climb to Lobuche East camp and have a rustic tent camp for the night. We’ll be up early in the morning so we can ascend the glacier while it is coldest, arriving there as the sun comes up. It’s only a few hundred meters in fixed lines to narrow summit ridge, you may even have a small crevasse to cross. Then back down to camp, where we pack up and descend to Lobuche for a well earned night of rest. We could continue down to Namche the next day and follow the EBC trek itinerary from there.
