Follow in the footsteps of Mary Shelley, tracing the life and imagination of the woman who gave birth to one of literature’s most enduring Gothic tales, Frankenstein. Begin in Geneva, where Shelley’s journey started during the infamous "Year Without a Summer," when the stormy skies above Lake Geneva inspired her to weave a story of life, death, and monstrous creation. Explore the landscapes that sparked her imagination, from Geneva’s shimmering lakeside and the fabled Villa Diodati, where Frankenstein was conceived, to the dramatic Rhine River and Strasbourg’s Gothic splendor. Every moment is steeped in eerie allure.
Travel onward through Switzerland, venturing into Germany’s enigmatic towns and forests, where the fictional Victor Frankenstein pursued his dark experiments and his tragic monster roamed. Explore Heidelberg’s haunted castle, stroll its cobbled streets by lantern light, and dive into the chilling festivities at Darmstadt’s Frankenstein Castle—culminating in the Frankenstein Halloween Festival on Halloween night. Celebrate in the heart of the castle with ghostly tales, eerie performances, and a night of unforgettable Gothic revelry.
A highlight of this journey is a Rhine River cruise in Strasbourg, where you’ll drift through a storybook setting of medieval castles, lush vineyards, and enchanting villages. Hear haunting tales of the river’s mythical sirens and Gothic legends. Adding to the thrill, one exclusive paranormal investigation will plunge you into the heart of the supernatural, offering a chance to connect with the unknown.
