In the Northern part of Ecuador, approximately two and a half hours from Quito are the "Lagunas de Mojanda", a very mystical place. From there we start the hike to the peaks of Fuya Fuya, a very beautiful acclimatization hike. The name Fuya Fuya comes from kichwa language and means clouds, which describes the foggy atmosphere of the area. During the ascent to the first summit, we have the heart shaped "Laguna Grande" in our back. If you feel good we go for both summits, the second summit includes a bit of rock scrambling to get to the highest point.
The hike to the Fuya Fuya summit takes between 2 and 3 hours and onother hour to get back, it's a perfect way to get your acclimatization started for higher peaks in Ecuador.
