Galapagos was created as one of the first National Parks in Ecuador. Also, known as the Enchanted Islands are one of the natural wonder of the world as result of the flora and fauna it possesses. Its marine reserve borders the 133.000,00-square kilometers. In consequence, it is considered one of the most bio-diverse natural site in the world and fragile at the same time.

Cross over from the ecological airport of Baltra to the most populated island in Galapagos. Observe giant tortoises in a natural reserve and learn about the breeding program of this majestic animal in the Charles Darwin Station. Explore bays, Galapagos Highlands and other surrounding areas by the Santa Cruz Town. Sail to uninhabited Island for snorkeling and walking. Day 1:
Exploring the Highlands of Galapagos
Explore the most amazing archipelago in the world. As you arrive at Baltra airport, you will be drive for our naturalist Guide to Santa Cruz Town. This town is the most populated area in the Islands. Check in at the hotel for a short break. Taste a nice lunch made with an old ecuadorean recipes and then take the transportation to visit the upper part of the Santa Cruz Island.

The zone which are located on top are known as the Highlands of Santa Cruz. The altitudinal gradient about the highlands in Santa Cruz is about 2835 feet.

As a result of the altitude, Santa Cruz Highlands possess a micro climate that consist in a fresh wind which allows us take a breath from the canicular sun, making this pristine place the perfect habitat for the giant Galapagos tortoises, finches among other species. Galapagos giant tortoises were nearly extinct in the past centuries due to the constant destruction of the ecosystem. Nowadays, conservation efforts are made in order to rescue the remaining population. Almost every feathered creature in the Galapagos can be watched from this farm which makes the highlands a nice area for birdwatching. Remarkable flora and fauna are spread out above volcanic areas posted in the Highlands.

After this visit, we come back to the town in order to rest and explore by ourselves the best part of Santa Cruz.

Day 2
Snorkeling and hiking in an uninhabited Island.
Sail to one of the uninhabited Islands that are located a few miles from the town of Santa Cruz. In short, these Islands receive tourists daily and offer beautiful reefs and sights for snorkeling or photography. You can also hike through specific trails or reach a viewpoint and take spectacular photos of the vegetation, birds or volcanic rocks that are founding out when walking along its sandy trails.

The tour starts in the morning, you are picked up by a local representative from the agency or if your hotel is near by the meeting point you will only have to take a few steps to meet with the crew and the rest of the travelers. After the instructions and receiving your life vest, you will board the boat of 16 or 20 passenger capacity.

After several minutes or more than an hour of navigation you will arrive at one of these islands to take a panga or zodiac and disembark on the beach. The crew will offer you a snorkeling equipment so that you can enjoy the best water for surface diving. If you are not an expert doing snorkeling, no worries, you can only enjoy the sea on the shore. This day we will combine including walks to certain areas of these Island that are marked off by the Galapagos National Park.

Visiting the Charles Darwin Station and departure
Check out from the hotel and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. It is a greit moment to discover more about Galapagos conservation. Since, Over 200 scientists and volunteers are involved with research and conservation efforts here. Their work is vitally to protect the pristine Galapagos eco system. The principal attraction for visitors to the Charles Darwin Research Station are the baby tortoises that they raise on captivity. You can also see giant tortoises & land iguanas, as well as checking out interesting exhibits.

Finally, we will be taken to the transport that will take us to the Itabaca channel and from there cross to the Baltra airport.

Quilotoa lagoon is beautiful, and Eduardo walked me through it as a wonderful experience. Stopping on the way I enjoyed experiencing the life of the indigeounous native people, their markets and art. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
