A new season of Divers Tribe operation Maldives, enjoying 2025 winter together.
We are excited to welcome you to our Maldivian base in Laamu Atoll in the south of Maldives to smile behind the mask and to keep diving.
Gan is a local island, natural and wild, isolated from the touristic routes and with incredible channels and diving spots.
We are truly in love with this scene that offers us incredible diving being also in contact with the local Maldivian culture.
What are the so called 'local islands' in Maldives?
This term refers to the inhabited islands where Maldivian citizens live, as opposed to the resort islands that are exclusively dedicated to tourism. Traveling to a local island in the Maldives offers a unique and enriching experience, providing an authentic taste of Maldivian life while supporting the local community and economy.
Why we support and love Maldivian traditional islands.
. Authentic Cultural Experience: Visiting local islands allows you to experience the authentic Maldivian culture, traditions, and lifestyle. You can interact with the residents, try local cuisine, and participate in community activities.
. Cost-Effective: Local islands are more affordable compared to resort islands.
Accommodation, food, and activities on local islands are often less expensive, making it a budget-friendly option for travellers
. Support Local Economy: Spending money on local islands directly supports the local economy. By choosing local guesthouses, restaurants, and shops, you contribute to the livelihoods of the island residents.
. Less Crowded: Local islands tend to be less crowded than popular resort islands, offering a more peaceful and relaxed environment.
. Access to Untouched Nature: where nature sees fewer humans, it stays wilder. Here the chance to access and experience untouched beaches, coral reefs, and natural beauty that are less frequented by tourists, allowing for a more serene and untouched experience.

Laamu scene is special also due to the fact of being the only diving center on the island. As you can imagine it is, nowadays, a rare privilege and assures the privacity and magic of the diving locations.
The water is quite stable all year round, ranging between 27°-29°. Diving spots are between 10 to 50 min away, famous for the colorful Thilas, Reefs and great channels with any kind of pelagic passing by. Not only sharks (white tips, grey reefs, silver tips, leopard shark, nurse shark..), turtles, eagle rays and sting rays, tunas, barracuda, jacks and the widest abundance of reef species.
All together there are more than 20 dive sites, diving off 9 mt Dhoni, the Maldivian typical boat.
