The Georgia Challenge Training is a special course targeting riders wanting to learn on more challenging terrain than the regular ADV training camps, while working to master big-bike offroad skills.
The Georgia Challenge Training has a smaller rider-to-instructor ratio, providing the opportunity to learn skills while on trails, in ruts, on hills and other environments not suitable for large classes. Although all of the basics for riding big bikes off-road are covered in the Challenge Training Camp, there is no guarantee all the intended lessons will be covered due to situations that are expected to occur that can take a significant amount of time to work through.
There is no training prerequisite for this course, however riders who arrive without the required bike setup, riding gear or skill prerequisite may not be able to complete all or any of the training.
500 acres of private OHV land at Rockcrusher Farm ensures a wide diversity of terrain. Based on weather, terrain may vary from high traction dirt to wet Georgia clay. This location has access to open areas, 3 MX tracks, hills, motorcycle trails, mud and gravel.
Specific boots and tires are required for this course. Review this list to ensure you have the correct gear. If you show up without the correct boots and/or tires, you may not be permitted to ride and will not receive a refund.
Your bike must have essential protection for any components that can cause your bike to become unrideable. Examples include a full-coverage skid plate, lever guards or short levers, and crash bars that protect the radiator or other critically vulnerable parts.
This training primarily takes place on Class 3 and Class 4 or unintentionally Class 5 terrain. You are not expected to be able to ride your adventure bike through this type of terrain when you arrive, but you are expected to have the physical conditioning and mental drive needed to methodically work through challenging terrain, as well as the ability to keep up with the skill development of the group.
This is not a class to show how much you already know or to pound your chest and “just send it”. This is a place to learn strategy and skills for overcoming difficult terrain on big bikes in a controlled manner.
Sunday school is all about mastering trail strategies while putting your newly polished riding skills to use during a 4-5 hour ride on Sunday. This optional add-on is not just going for a ride, but is an intense full day of learning critical ADV riding strategies, developing road reading skills, and polishing your skills from the previous days in a real life environment.
Check-in begins at 3:00pm on Thursday afternoon. You will have time to set up your tent (if camping) and get acquainted with your fellow participants.
Meet your fellow riding partners around the campfire as well as the instructors (including Bret) and informally discuss what specific skills you will be learning. It is highly recommended to join us for this evening event, starting around 6:00pm.
