Izors is a LARGE man-made reef formed from LOT’s of large cement beams making it a very interesting deep dive. Izors, was named after Russ Izor who was a firm believer in artificial reefs, a longtime SoCal boat captain and the developer of the braided Space Age fiber fishing line he dubbed “Izorline. Russ passed away in Oct. 2002.
Diving Izors is very different than a normal dive. There are cement beams everywhere creating plenty of space for fish and sea life to live in. It can also be popular with the fishermen. The depths are about 95′-85′. If conditions are good we will stay for 2 dives. If not we will find somewhere else cool to dive.
Experienced Advanced Deep divers and above that have experience in cold water conditions including possible current, swell limited visibility, and deep water. The wrecks, man-made structures, and deeper reefs visited are unique and interesting and inherently have more hazards, and may not necessarily have the best dive conditions. Most importantly, good buoyancy control is needed and surface signal tubes are always recommended.
The Giant Stride dive boat has been a favorite of local SoCal divers for years and has an excellent following. It is owned and operated by Captain Jim. He and the crew does an excellent job and they know how to make customers happy! The Giant Stride is a private 6-pack dive charter boat catering to underwater photographers, tech divers, and small groups of divers.
Features a full galley and a 3500psi compressor. Read more about the Giant Stride HERE.
