Visit to Castle in the Clouds

After earning his fortune in the shoe industry at the turn of the 20th century, Tom Plant focused his attention on the Ossipee Mountains in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. In 1913-1914, Tom and his wife Olive built a unique and stunning country estate, which they called Lucknow. The property spanned 6,300 acres and featured a 16-room Arts and Crafts mansion, stable and six-car garage, two gatehouses, a greenhouse, a golf course and tennis court, a man-made lake, a boathouse on Lake Winnipesaukee, and miles of carriage and bridle trails. For several years the Plants enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle at Lucknow, with state-of-the-art amenities, beautiful hand-made furnishings, and a large staff to run the estate.  Now is your opportunity to Experience this Castle in the Clouds.  Enjoy truly breathtaking views from this spectacular turn-of-the-century sixteen-room Arts & Crafts mansion perched high on a pristine 5500-acre mountaintop estate overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee!

1. The bus ride both ways was very good. The driver was great and what a skilled driver!!!!!! I dont know how he managed to get into that small entrance in Hudson without scraping the side of the bus. (He should not have had to maneuver like that. Hopefully next time they will find a more easily accessible spot for the people in Hudson.) 2. The food was very good. 3. I felt so bad for the performer. It was obvious he was in a lot of pain. But he muscled through it and did a great performance. I would see him again! 4. The only complaint was the table seating. Ridiculous to squeeze 10 people in a table built for 8. I noticed that a lot of the tables seated only 8 not 10. I also noticed that there was certainly room in the hall to add 2-3 more tables so we would not be hitting each other's elbows eating. I could not sit up to the table because of lack of space. I was sitting at least a foot from the table and trying to lean over to eat. Not at all pleasant. Before I would go down to that venue again, i will ask how many are seated at a table and then make a decision whether to go or not. That part was NOT a pleasant experience. Thanks for asking.

Never got to go. Bus left without myself and my sister. We got there half an hour early. In sending me directions they never said that bus would be in front door. I was in parking handicap. At 9.12 went inside senior center and was told bus left. In this day and age everyone has cell phone. He left early knowing that two more people should be there. Is this a gimmick you play. We are both handicapped and was looking forward to this trip. Shame on that bus driver. No host o n bus??? We could have met the bus 🚃
