Welcome to Greece! Upon arrival, begin your guided panoramic tour including an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium. See vistas of the Presidential Palace. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square. In contrast, we see the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and the crowning beauty and glory that was Athens. D

Visit the Parthenon on the Acropolis, see the Royal Palace, the National Gardens, the Temple of Athena Nike, the marble Olympic Stadium, the remains of the Agora and other highlights. Visit the Acropolis Museum. Explore the Plaka area with your group.  Its vibrant, picturesque streets and alleys open out into tiny squares and terraces linked by stairs. B

After breakfast, Along the way to the Cape of Sounion, enjoy the picturesque coastal scenery. Once you arrive, visit the Temple of Poseidon, an ancient Greek temple dedicated to the god of the sea. The temple dates back to the 5th century BC and is perched on a rocky hill overlooking the Aegean Sea. The temple is well-preserved, with 16 of its original 34 columns still standing, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding sea and coastline. Enjoy a lunch break in the coastal village. On the way back to Athens, stop in Glyfada, known for lively entertainment, shopping and, of course, strolling along the beach. Return to Athens. B

On your way to Nafplio this morning, make a stop at the 4 miles long Corinth Canal, connecting the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf, in the Aegean Sea. Stop for lunch. Continue to Epidaurus Archaeological Site, well-known for the unique acoustics of its 4th BC century old theater.  Proceed to the pretty coastal city of Nafplio, first capital of Greece for some free time.  B, D

After breakfast, travel to the archaeological site of Olympia for a guided tour, spending your morning admiring the splendors of this unique place, where the ancient Greek ideas of unity, peace, and fair play flourished. See the impressive ruins of Hera’s and Zeus’s Temples, the Leonidaion, the Workshop of the sculptor Pheidias and the famous Stadium. Continue to Delphi. B, D

This morning begin your full day tour of scenic Delphi, one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth, according to a poet. Explore the archaeological site, which was once believed to be the “navel” (omphalos) of the world. Walk on the Sacred Way to see the Athenian Treasury, the Temple of Apollo, where the oracle delivered her ambiguous prophecies, and the Theater. Return to Athens.  B

This morning, begin your free day for your student researched “let them be the guide” tours. Visit sites such as the Athens Panathenaic Stadium, Hadrian’s Arch, Ancient Agora.  B

Enjoy a full day tour on a cruise to the islands of Poros, Hydra and Aegina. Leave the bustle of the city behind as you sail into the Saronic Gulf, stopping at 3 of the most picturesque islands within reach of the capital. With free time to explore each beautiful island, it’s a stress free way to see more of Greece. Return to Athens.
