Reaching the crater rim of Guagua Pichincha (4.794 m / 15,728 ft) and climbing up to its rocky summit is a very special experience. The Pichincha volcano is still active and sometimes you can smell that. At an altitude of 4500 m is the refuge of Guagua Pichincha, either that or a lower parking are our starting points. For an acclimatization day on Guagua Pichincha we have different hiking options, which you will explore with your guide. The views over Lloa and the Southern part of Quito are impressive, even Cotopaxi can be seen.
Definitely a trip of a lifetime - join us!
Technically the climb is not very difficult, nevertheless good fitness is required and some previous experience recommended.
Another very important point is proper acclimatization. To really enjoy the climb, we recommend at least having stayed a day in the city before climbing it.

APPROXIMATE TIMES (subject to change according to climate etc.):
Start at approx. 7.30 am, drive to Lloa and from there we drive up to the parking area at the refuge (4500 m / 14764 ft), it's an adventurous 4 x 4 ride. From the parking we start the hike up to the summit of GUAGUA PICHINCHA (4.794 m / 15,728 ft).
During the hike we enjoy wonderful views of LLoa, maybe even Cotopaxi and also the impressive southern part of the city of Quito. The hike to the summit is quick, but we go for another loop up there at the Pichincha masif. Afterwards we head back to our accommodation.
