Upon touching down in Guatemala City, your Heart of Travel Tour Leader will be waiting to greet you and accompany you to the colonial town of La Antigua Guatemala. Before you arrive in this picturesque little town, you'll buzz through the busy urban streets of Guatemala City.
Once settled into Antigua you'll be able to enjoy all that the town and surrounding areas have to offer from coffee farms, to artisan chocolate & wine, beautiful historic buildings, cheerful marimba music, delicious food, colorful markets, and quiet mornings, and bustling nightlife. There is no shortage of activities in Antigua, trust us!
The fun doesn't stop there, during our adventure in Guatemala we will also explore the massive Tikal ruins that loom over the jungle canopy, home to many species of birds, monkeys, jaguars, and other critters. After an exciting adventure in the north, we will enjoy a peaceful day floating leisurely down the expansive Río Dulce before arriving on Guatemala's Caribbean coast.
Finally, our trip will conclude with a visit to the famed Lake Atitlán, where we will spend the night with local families and learn more about cultural customs and traditions in the area along with the artful skill of weaving.
The balance must be paid 45 days prior the arrival. The confirmation of services implies the knowledge and acceptance of booking and cancellation policies. • All reservations must be received via web, email or fax and will be replied by email with the assignation of reservation code that should be used at all times to confirm, consult, make changes or cancel the reservation. • Reservations and/or changes must be requested only via e-mail and confirmed in the same way to be considered valid. The only telephone/messenger request does not imply acceptance of it. • Reservations are only confirmed with full payment of all contracted services. PAYMENTS • Upon confirmation a deposit payment of US$1000 per person is requested. • The costs of the wire transfer must be covered by the client. • The confirmation deposit is not refundable. • The supplier payment policy may also be applied.
When the services are confirmed; the following penalties apply: • Confirmation deposit of US$1000 per person is non-refundable. • More than 30 days before the arriving date 100% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. • 31 - 15 days before the operation: 50% of total reservation minus the non-refundable deposit.
NO REFUNDS 15 days or less before the operation: • In some cases, the supplier’s cancellation policies will be applied. • For Covid reasons the cancelations could be modify or scheduled in a different time. These cancelations will apply in case the travelers have been infected with SAARS COV2 or its derivations, and showing a medical certification previous the cancelation. • These cancelations will apply also if international issues happened and the traveler cannot start the trip.
Participants will be flying in from a variety of different places, therefore, travelers are welcome to choose the flight path that best suits their travel preferences and needs. That being said, we encourage participants to book flights that arrive in Guatemala in the morning or early afternoon so that they have time to get settled before the welcome dinner that evening. Upon arriving at the airport one of our Program Directors will be waiting to escort you to the beautiful colonial town of La Antigua via private shuttle (approx 1 - 1.5 hour drive). Once in La Antigua, you will be checked into your hotel and given a brief orientation of the city. If you need any assistance going to the bank, store, pharmacy, etc. one of the Program Directors will be more than happy to accompany you. In the event, you arrive early in the morning and would like to coordinate any specific activities during the day just let us know so we can accommodate your requests.
Later at night we will enjoy a traditional Guatemalan meal and learn how to make tortillas during an interactive dining experience at our friend Joaquín’s cooking school just outside of La Antigua. Here we will in the rooftop kitchen and dine on the terrace while you will meet the guides and fellow travelers to discuss the upcoming activities for our adventure here in Guatemala.
