Itinerary

Day 1
Laurel/Biloxi, MS

Early morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge. Once we arrive in Laurel, we’ll enjoy a brief downtown city tour, followed by free time for you to explore and eat lunch. Stop at the Laurel Mercantile for home décor or souvenirs.

Visit the Scotsman General Store and Ben’s Woodshop, grab a snack and watch the Scotsman team hard at work through a large glass wall. You might even get to see Ben building his next piece for HGTV’s Home Town. You can also enjoy walking through a wide array of antique stores and gift shops in town.

For lunch, you’ll have plenty of choices. Enjoy hearty southern cooking at The Pearl Diner, sandwiches and soup at Lee’s Coffee & Tea, or delicious melt-in-your-mouth barbecue at Hog Heaven. Afterwards, enjoy a cupcake or one of their famous cinnamon rolls at Sweet Something’s Bakery.

This afternoon, we’ll say goodbye to Laurel and head to Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi where you’ll enjoy dinner on your own and where we will overnight. This resort is one of the premier destinations on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and offers sweeping views of the Mississippi Sound, MGM Park and historic downtown Biloxi. Experience southern hospitality with attention to detail and the luxury you deserve.

Bus ride was long and boring. Expected some input from tour guide along the way. Also felt could have had a little more organization. Bus driver had credit card issues to fuel up. There were no sun shades on the bus to avoid the sun from blinding through. Got to hotels quite late on some nights especially for dinner. During the trip, bathroom accommodations were not very accommodating in some spots and frowned upon if used on the bus. Stoney Creek Hotel was an awful stay and experience. Also, most hotels did not have bell hops to help elderly with luggage. Individuals that were on the bus were having to help them. On the positive side, we did enjoy seeing all the sites we saw.

We had a great time. Met a lot of nice people. Saw some awe inspiring historical places. Riding a bus is a good way to travel and not have the hassle of driving. Accommodations were all quite comfortable. Sara was a wonderful tour guide who gave us a lot of background information of the places we visited and kept us well informed about upcoming events.
