About this trip

Iceland’s 30 plus active volcanoes and gorgeous glaciers lend it the nickname “The Land of Fire and Ice.” An underpopulated island marooned near the top of the globe, Iceland is literally a country in the making. It’s a vast volcanic laboratory where mighty forces shape the earth: geysers gush, mudpots gloop, ice-covered volcanoes rumble and glaciers cut great pathways through the mountains.

Its supercharged splendor seems designed to remind visitors of their utter insignificance in the greater scheme of things. This trip will leave you in awe at the unparalleled beauty that is Iceland!

This was my first trip with Globe Trotters. I will definitely be going on another. The accomdations were good and the food was great. I really enjoyed the trip leader Nok. She worked very hard to accomodate everyone.

We had a lovely time. Everyone was so nice and so friendly and kind. Sandy went out of her way to help us with all the extra things we wanted to do. I think the guides work very hard to make sure everyone is taken care of and have plenty of choices. I know we signed up for a "slow-cation" but we are a GO cation person/couple so in the future we would book a more physically active trip. With that said we had a blast and have no complaints. Hotel Jardim was modest but clean and lovely. The staff worked very hard to make it a home away from home. Thank you to everyone!

Portugal is great. I loved this trip. The sites were amazing as was the group! Weather perfect as well. The hotel was also great-staff amazing. The only miss was the lack of being able to cook a few meals together. However, many restaurants within walking distance. In the past I’ve enjoyed cooking with new friends.

I swear to cod, this the BEST Iceland trip ever! This trip was so fantastic that in the past week or so I’ve been tempted to re-book a flight to Reykjavik. Our guide, Stefan, looked like a real life viking (or Klaus from “Frozen” — make sure to mention that to him if you take this trip. He’ll love it!) Stefan was very funny, could handle frozen roads like a champ, played good music and shared interesting stories whenever we passed a noteworthy landmark. I’ve taken a few Globe Drifters trips and Stefan has been one of my favorite guides, so you’ll be in good (albeit tattooed) hands! We saw so many cool things from glaciers to oodles of waterfalls to a very sweet baby reindeer. We even got to eat shark! Speaking of food, we ate fresh and delicious food throughout this trip. If you like lamb and Arctic char, you’ll be in heaven — and if you don’t eat meat, our resident vegan on this trip told us that this trip offered her the best vegan options she’s ever had. This trip is essentially a road trip, but it’s well paced and you never feel rushed or have to wake up exceptionally early. Be prepared for rain, mud, snow, and some short hikes — as well as a few relaxing visits to spas. The lodging was comfy and clean. The whole country is just gorgeous, so if you like scenery and want to be surrounded by nice people who make you laugh, I highly suggest it!

What a fabulous and exhilarating trip to Iceland! Iceland is beautiful, magnificent, serene, so rooted in folklore. We circled the entire country. 11 days. 9 different hotels. We saw whales, glaciers, craters, waterfalls, a baby reindeer, ate “hákarl,” went to a black sand beach and lazed in the ‘blue lagoon’, saw the northern lights, drank the freshest water in the world right from a stream. And so much more. The wonderful people in our group made the trip so much more fun. Our tour guide, Stefan, was so knowledgeable and entertaining and passionate about his country. He made our trip so much more than just a drive around the country. I wish we could have stayed longer.
