----
At the heart of Girls Be Change’s Impact Expedition lies a commitment to holistic empowerment, designed with six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) guiding every step. Learn more here. The expedition is not just about travel; they encompass meaningful connections before, during, and after the trip.
This expedition addresses the urgent need for wildlife conservation and intervention in South Africa, where you, one of the 8 fellow explorers, will gain a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into a world usually hidden from the public eye. You will assist seasoned conservation experts and wildlife veterinarians, helping to directly fund critical conservation efforts, including helicopter operations, wildlife collars and tags, veterinary fees, and essential medicines. No prior experience in conservation needed.
Pre-trip:
During the trip: (Group of 8 women explorers + 1-2 cohosts)
Post-trip:
Each expedition embodies the principle of giving back: On top of directly funding the cost of Wildlife Intervention in South Africa, your place also implies funding the Girls’ Scholarship Program in Myanmar/Thailand. By partnering with Daughters Rising, Girls Be Change will reinvest net profits from the expeditions to support the Girls’ Scholarship Program, allowing ethnic minority women from Myanmar and those in refugee camps to pursue higher education. This ripple effect—where empowering one woman empowers many—is at the core of our mission.

Q: What is the accommodation?
A: Accommodation consists of five en-suite twin bed units. Each has very comfortable Victorian-style brass and metal beds plus arm chairs or a couch. The bathrooms each contain a shower, a wash basin, toilet and a cupboard for your clothes. Being eco-friendly, the hot water system is solar heated which can be boosted electrically if the weather is overcast. The lodge will be shared among our group of 8 women explorers and 1-2 cohosts.
Q: What is veterinary intervention for wildlife conservation? And how am I going to get involved?
A: During the expedition, you will have the rare opportunity to assist the Vet with critical conservation activities prioritized by most threatened or at-risk animals. These interventions range from rhino dehorning and satellite tagging, to predator collaring, and elephant translocation. The exact intervention activity will depend on the on-site situation. This experience is usually inaccessible to the public. You will be taking part in this intervention and getting hands-on with the procedures and health checks, working alongside the Conservation Pilot, Reserve Management, the Anti-Poaching Unit and a qualified Wildlife Vet. No prior conservation experience needed.
