Start and end your trip on the cobblestone streets of historic Savannah, Georgia. Enjoy a beautiful dinner and cozy lodging before heading 2 hours south to St. Marys, GA the following day. Catch the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore and begin your two day/two night journey along this stretch of paradise. Stroll the wide trails of Georgia's largest barrier island under a canopy of live oaks draped with Spanish moss. See wild horses, the Dungeness Mansion ruins, secluded white sand beaches and the occasional armadillo!
If you have a bit of camping experience or you're just up for something new, we highly recommend this trip for beginner backpackers and families with kids. If you can navigate a city park, you can find your way to your campsite and back again on Cumberland Island with no problems.
After your backpacking adventure, return to Savannah for your last two nights. Explore the wilderness of Little Tybee Island via sea kayak, join a haunted pub tour, e bike around the city with a map of sights selected just for you.
